..thanks for all the answers.........just to put peoples mind at rest, i'm there with Mistress.....(so finding a woman or screwing around aren't options i have a lot of interest in)......oh, and to Utopian Ranger, this is the BC outback, lol, so is very very isolated. Luckily Mistress has lived in similar situations before, so the practicalities are being sorted out. The internet is via a communal satellite uplink and i have to say is a lot quicker than i thought it'd be.
It's an... interesting ....community and one can walk from one end to the other in less than five minutes.

i suppose my op was to do with the fact that my usual strategies for getting to know people (and to be known) aren't options here. It's a whole new ball game. Drinking is not an option. Even the nearest settlement (75 minutes drive away) is what i'd classify as a village. i shudder to think how far we'll have to drive to get lube for instance.....lol.

Still, thanks again for the varied answers........it's always comforting to know that i can, if vicariously, get perspectives from so many viewpoints via this interweb thingy :)

Make a tray of brownies and take them to your cloest neighbor. You could make the best brownies or cookies..whatever they have ever tasted.  It got me noticed by many..then they come to you to talk..try to steal your recipes..etc.
Say HI..I'm so and so.
Don't expect them to be into what you are.
I've found people here even those who aren't into what we are to be accepting.  All of our neighbors know.  They asked us to put up a privacy fence for the jacuzzi...etc.
