Level -> Super Tuesday (so far) (2/5/2008 8:51:11 PM)

From MSN:

Obama has won 10 states, Clinton 7, California too close too call.

McCain has 7, Huckabee 5, Romney 4 thus far.

I noticed  Senator Joe Leiberman on stage with McCain.... not the first time. Hmm.... his VP choice?

Phin -> RE: Super Tuesday (so far) (2/5/2008 8:54:52 PM)

the really important stat that I am having a hard time finding, what is the count on the delegates?

Level -> RE: Super Tuesday (so far) (2/5/2008 8:57:16 PM)

Not sure yet, Phin, it may be a while before we get solid numbers.

quote:

‘No idea what the delegate count is’

The two dozen contests Tuesday were delivering 1,681 of the 2,025 delegates needed for the Democratic nomination, but “we don’t have any idea what the delegate count is,” Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said in an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews. “It’s an early night, and this is not going to be decided tonight.”

That was because all of the states were dividing their delegates proportionally, so a candidate who finished second could pick up an impressive haul of delegates.

Chuck Todd, NBC News’ political director, said that while Clinton was winning more of the big primary states, Obama was picking up significant delegate totals, notably in New York, where he could come away with nearly 40 percent of the total.

Obama was also doing “extremely well” in the states that were holding caucuses, Todd said, particularly Minnesota, North Dakota, Idaho and Colorado.

As a result, Todd said, Clinton could end up with the most votes at the end of the evening, but the delegate split could be 50-50.

“This thing seems razor thin,” Todd said.

Our primaries are next Tuesday, I can't wait to see how MD, DC and VA vote.

The United States may end up with another republican president. Obama has more states so far, but Clinton is still ahead because she won New York. So far she's leading in California. If Clinton takes both New York and California, she will win the caucus. Meanwhile, McCain is winning big time. Obama has a much better chance of beating McCain than Clinton because he has more independent votes.

I guess I can say that I'm shocked. I know it's still early but Hiliary is winning, marginally, in nearly every California county with the exception of one {Marin}.

He's publically denied it, yeah, normally that means he's getting it in political talk...

After tonight, however, I think Mike Huckabee has earned his place on the Republican Ticket...and I'm not just saying that because I support him.  He fills in McCain's weaknesses rather nicely.  Leiberman does not.

Now, I'm still holding out for Huckabee to get nomination via miracle...which has been the calling card of his entire campaign.  He'd make a top-notch VP candidate...and I can live with McCain being the main nominee.  Either way, he's done amazingly well for how under-funded his campain has been.

Well, Hillary took Calif so it looks as though she'll be unstopable now!
And.....she took Massachusetts too so FAT BOY Kennedy can eat crow! Ha, Ha!
No, I don't think that nasty old fart McCain will win.
He's winning states but there's a lot of votes in those states that went for Hucklebee or Romney. There's a split in the Republican party.
He pissed off a lot of conservatives and especially *Independants* like me with that "Amnesty" crap. And called people "racists" for wanting their govt to do it's job and enforce our laws!
He burned a lot of bridges!
I f Hillary pledges to enforce our immigration laws and close that Mexican border she'll win by a landslide! All of us "racist" Independants will go with her and get our Revenge on McCain.
*You can't win without Independants!*
There are more Independants in the country than there are Dems and Repubs combined!
So, as an Independant voter what does Hillary have to offer us?

Good point, Shawn. McCain/Huckabee would be hard to beat.
