hear you there. i'm not one who is really into politics but this just seems to be one of those times when it seems better to go vote than not vote at all.

Ronald Reagan.

He'll do a better job dead than any of the current candidates could, alive.

Seriously though ...

If you lean Dem, vote Hillary.

She may be a biatch and power hungry, but in the current world situation she's OUR biatch, and I think she could cut the nuts off anyone or any country in the world who thinks we're a soft touch.

If you lean Repub, vote Mit.

McCain doesn't have a principal in the world that he wouldn't sell to the highest bidder. He soul went during a firesale about 20 years ago.

Mit ... well, he's smart, he's not a quiter, and he's been able to get elected in one of the most liberal states in the union, and still keep (fairly) close to his principles.

I'm leaning Obama.  Admittedly, though, I couldn't begin to cite his potilitical stances; my perference for him is solely based off my appreciation for his decency.

In the few moments I've seen canidates debating on TV, I've felt this decietful guise coming off of them.  Obama's the only one I haven't really felt it from.

Hillary particularly irks me.  To see her talk feels like watching a snake from the Far East dancing, charming its soon-to-be meal.  Her every move feels calculated for results with little concern for exactly what she's saying.  She's truly a politician, and she's probably a good one.  If she were elected, this may serve America.  At the same time, though.. being so soullessly political is just too distasteful for me to want to deal with her. In another way, too, I'm tired of living my life with nothing but Bush's and Clinton's in the White House; I'm ready to see a new face.

I'm afraid I'm far too uneducated about the other canidates to even begin to make generalization.

I believe the Seahawks will win with a total point advantage of 17.

TheHeretic -> RE: politics...blech (2/4/2008 6:17:13 PM)

       Good for you, Gris.  Being a Seahawks fan builds character.

     Now to quickly get back to the OP before I draw Herself back to the top of my who's viewing list, it turns out that a serious oversight on my part is working out nicely.  I'll be casting a ballot in the very tight Clinton/Obama race.  And it won't be for Clinton II.

Vote for Jack

batshalom -> RE: politics...blech (2/4/2008 8:00:34 PM)

As usual, I will not be voting for either of the Big Two candidates. I almost always vote third party. I friggin' detest politics.

Use a great scientific method.
Flip a coin!

How are you going to do that in these party primaries?

Alumbrado -> RE: politics...blech (2/4/2008 8:15:23 PM)

Well, I find myself in the ironic position of ignoring my own advice...namely not to believe anything a career politician says if their lips are moving...

I actually believe Hillary when she says that she will keep the troops in Iran until at least 2013, and that she wants to force 100% enrollment in her failed Tenncare gone national.

So in the 'Anybody But Hillary' category, I'll probably take my lucky coin with me...[8|]

Yeah, but now she's pulled the "Tears" card twice in less than a month... that just isn't a tactic that says "Commander-In-Chief" to me.

ksdom2k5 -> RE: politics...blech (2/4/2008 9:31:02 PM)

Obama is the best choice left in. Romney is nuts and is mostly convinced that America is still some ideal utopian vision of the 1950s, McCain has sold out most of his beliefs and is a loose cannon about what he'll do in the future and Hillary is not much better. It is funny that one of the above posts mentioned keeping the troops in "Iran" for several years and while this was most likely a mistake I would guess that this might not be far off from the truth, and I think Obama is the best way to prevent that.

greyangelus -> RE: politics...blech (2/4/2008 9:34:41 PM)

Ron paul. I'll be the first to admit his own personal views do no match mine, but his ideas regarding the economy (which if it goes tits up, no ones going to give a damn about freedom overseas, including Iraq) and his rather severe abhorrence of big gov and all-states federal power is good enough for me.

i agree that Ron Paul is far and away the best of the brand-name suspects... err, candidates, but he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of making the ballot in November [&o]
