On b.com years ago there was one man who identified as this. He was never successful in finding a life partner. That's so rare that the odds of finding someone who also is like this, with the other many needed compatibilities that's it seems to be the proverbial needle in a haystack hunt.

One of my previous gf's was incredibly submissive everywhere outside the bedroom, to basically everyone she came across, including myself. However, the complete Top in bed (which was one reason why herself and I are not together anymore [:D])

I do better with examples than theoretical discussions. So here's one example:

One of my first play parties, I bottomed for two people for a variety of sensation play and fisting, blindfolded. At that time, I had not yet identified for myself that I was innately dominant/assertive. And when one of the two (alternately) fisting me wasn't getting me where I wanted to be, I hollered out "V for victory" (referring to a prior conversation about slightly off-beat sweet spots).

Several months later, that same gent teased me at a munch, quoting me back to myself when I was reluctant to claim the label domme. Coming to terms with it, I guess. My ex calls me a control freak, with justification. Now I'm learning to see that as a *good* thing.
