I've not had my girly bits pierced. When I was very young I had my ears pierced (1977) and to this day they've not healed properly. I've not worn earrings since '78 and they've never closed up completely and continue to reinfect.I can't even wear clip on earrings.[&:]I don't know if it is just me or if it has happened to other people but I wish I'd never done it. I get squicked thinking about my hood having recurring infections! I was super careful with cleaning and turning them, they just never healed.TMI sorry but every couple of weeks I have to squeeze a small amount of white pus from each ear, my lobes get reddish and hot/painful.

I have had 5 genital piercings done, including the one in question. The only problem or extreme pain that I have had with them was just after the initial piercing, since the piercer was a very good friend of mine who knew of my lifestyle(since he shared it) and was a sadistic SOB. Just after the piercing, he flicked it with his fingernail HARD, followed up by doing the same to my nipple piercings. Other than that, I think you'll really like it.

I just had a vertical hood peircing done. It's kind of hard to tell if it helps with orgasms as we've been going easy on it for a bit. After reading Softness's post I'm wondering if it can be traded out for something bigger later. Mine is very fine and I am finding I actually don't feel it all that often. It hurt like a bitch while it was being done but after i hopped down off the chair I couldn't even feel it and even checked after I got back to the car to make sure it hadn't fallen out. Hehe, I want to get the ring that had little jewels on the end. [:)] charlotte

I have this problem with my ears, have to be very careful, only gold, occasionally silver. My cartilage piercing in one ear was even worse. I had absolutely no problems with my clit hood. Healed very very well. I don't wear it much anymore, kind of gets in the way, as some have said..lol. still never closes though. I think it may have something to do with the metal they use, surgical grade and all that. I have barbells in many colors of stones too. (gotta match!) I went back to the piercer and bought some hoops of the same metal for my ears, and just never take them out now. Just clean them. Amazing what a difference a professional piercer can make, very knowledgeable about such things.

Annoyingly I only wore the studs for a couple of weeks before I decided I didn't like them lol. I wish I could trust that another piercing would work out but I dont.

Camille, have you ever seen a doctor about this? I have had my ears pierced three times, once when I was seven. They became infected, but eventually healed. I tried for a second piercing when I was older, but had to remove it due to infection. The third time I saw a doctor, but had to remove them after a month for a sports competition. They didn't become infected as they had the first two times though! How long do you need to wait after having a genital or nipple piercing before having any kind of sexual activity involving that area?

Thorns I always thought it was too goofy to bring up.... so no, I haven't. I kinda wonder if it goes along with my massive auto immune failings.

I kinda wonder if it goes along with my massive auto immune failings. i wouldnt be shocked if it does. i've had my ears pierced since 1976. and i still have to be very careful about what i wear in my ears. mostly i go with "starter studs" and dont have any issues. when i had my nipples pierced, i had no issues either, but i only had them in about 8 months total...i went for new jewelry, the size was wrong, and they migrated. bleh. i wouldnt have my naughty bits pierced...i JUST got over an infection caused by an allergic reaction to lubricant....and i get skin tears on a regular basis. i've also got immune failure issues, so i feel for you, i realy do. kitten
