In light of the annual state of the union speech, for sure you put out the American flag, dressed in red whit and blue, and are baking an apple pie right now as we speak...  lol.

If you had 5 minutes with GWB in a room, say the very room you are in; tell us how it would go.  No reporters no cameras, no witnesses no documentation., no security.. Just you and your public servant.  Presume that no information is classified- and you mind would be erased of said meeting after the meeting by the CIA- as a stipulation of the meeting.

Think carefully before you answere.

Would you be civil? why or whynot?   What topic(s) would you discuss?

Oh- while your mind gets cleared, Geos, does not.

Again, no reporters, no cameras, no documents.

Peoples from any country welcome to reply-

Ready- set- go.

do I get to take in some bananas?

I hear this is a good way of establishing rapport with our simian relatives, and maybe it might just work with George too?

after that I dont see any opportunity for profitable discussion regrettably. Him looking up the words I use in a 6th grade dictionary would seriously hamper things.

I would decline that meeting. I simply do not think the man is able to have an honest constructive conversation unless the person agrees with him 100%.

PA, I do enough of beating my head against a dense wall here at work. I don't want to do it when I am not getting paid to.

Definitely civil.  I'd try to ascertain what his actual IQ was.  Also, why is it he doesn't know he is probably the most hated president either.  Is he that sheltered or what?

Figure out a way for him to start understanding what is actually going on in this country.

Hmmn honestly it would depend on what day you tossed me in there. These last few days? Less than sexy and I'm sure he'd be very traumatized emotionally. Now on a good day i'd probably just suggest watching some tv with a bowl of salty preztles and nothing to drink.

Shake his hand

Thank him for his service

Tell him I know he did his best

Not to worry about uninformed critics on CM

Just set back… enjoy retirement and let history judge his actions.

I though it was a very good question pahunkboy and deserved something beside snide semi-humorous sarcasm.

I think you know my feelings on President Bush… if not… I think he has done a terrible job. BUT unlike many I don’t believe he is sinister with hidden agendas and a lackey of big business.

I do believe he did what he thought was best for America and the world… he was just wrong and at times incompetent.

every president  gets hated especially when in for 8 years.  If you feel the way you do-thats fine. I was hoping to get candid replies to this question.

Am I being frisked for weapons first??

Bush wasn't smart enough to ruin so many things by himself, but he certainly was the enabler of a system that has our country in untenable positions economically and militarily.  If I was alone with him, I would be respectful, but I would try everything in my power to convince him to use his last year in power to reverse the damage.

Been there, done that, a couple of times... though he wasn't President at the time; only Governor.

I can tell you he was a very personable and charming man.

Interesting question.

Unlike most Bush haters, I do not think he is stupid or evil.  I do, however, think he is misguided and made a lot of mistakes.  He's like the kid who you see a lot of potential in, but never quite hits the mark, you know?  Even though I may not like a lot of high-level politicians, they do carry a weight on their shoulder that the rest of us do not.  They know things about the world that are scary and that I really don't want to know about.  There are moral questions they have to deal with on an ongoing basis.  And for this, they earn a lot of contempt and criticism - even the 'good' ones.  Politics is a dirty business.

In light of that, I'd probably just shake his hand and wish him well.  I might ask him if it was worth it.  Was having the job worth the sacrifices he's had to make.  And I'd like to have a martini with Laura and see if I can get her to loose up a bit.  lol

I would be civil, tell him I appreciated his service to our Country, and then make awkward small talk. :p
