From that perspective perhaps so, but my dealings with them were different. They demanded perfection, always changing things at the last minute, asking nicely but always with a threat implied, and that were the good ones. The bad ones...well if your into humiliation they are definitely the ones to work for.

From the Dom side: Someone said animal trainer. Definitely true. No one has said "Chef" -- if you have ever worked in a high-end professional kitchen, you KNOW that's the job for the nastiest SOB on the block. I'd think as a submissive (especially service oriented) Nurse and personal assistant come to mind. NOT saying all nurses are subs, at all (you ever work with a skilled OR Nurse you KNOW there's a boss!) but it could fulfill a service orientation. E.

my NYC friend is heavily invested in porn, so yes when I am up there we go watch them shoot it, and then of course there is the club, tough life looking at naked bodies enjoying themselves day in and day out...but realistically, yes it makes you jaded to a point, so like MIDAS, careful what you wish for, I know for sure I do not want a job in the bdsm/sex industry. . .

i enjoyed being a military interrogator a million years ago, a definite Dom position. as a grown up sub, i am quite at peace as a cab driver, but also enjoyed being a waiter and working in a hotel front desk.

If you think big picture about what feeds you in the lifestyle, whatever those aspects are, usually there are vanilla counterparts in the shape of a job where you can make a living wage. I'm a service oriented person. I've spent all my adult life one hour at a time trying to help other people feel better in their bodies, improving range of motion, easing restrictions, lengthening muscles. It's very rewarding for me on a personal level to spend my work day helping other people feel better. Good boundaries are involved, I feel like I'm doing good in the world, and it pays the rent. :) You just gotta find your niche.

I started out selling sex toys and lingerie at home parties, but they didnt have anything in the way of bondage gear beyond cuffs n blindfolds and a few pvc items, but I was completely ignorant of the BDSM "community". I knew about kink, I knew about proDommes, etc, but didnt know about a "scene" (living just outside london too, how could I have been so blind!!!!) forward 15+ years and a continent away, I got into BDSM online, then offline and got to meet some awesome artisans at munches and events, and out of that came the store. Its a job I love. altho right now its a nightmare updating everything. Long response sorry, its early yet and the java beans arent working yet Lucy

There used to be an organization called Kink Aware Professionals. Some of them were directly involved in BDSM, and others were just aware of or sympathetic to the BDSM community. You might check there.
