Sad but so… you may not find a lot of Israelis on CM…at least those that admit to it....in the Off Topic section anyway. I am talking Israelis not Jews in particular.

??
Apparently you don't know Israelis very well.

Of course you’re right…I should not make assumptions…I have only been on CM a relatively short time myself.

Believe me this comment was not disparaging in any way. But I have been here long enough to view many threads on the Middle East and in particular Israel and the Arab world. Good portions of the posts were anti Israeli and I can’t remember anyone from Israel commenting…but I could be mistaken.

Often the US is disparaged unfairly and I always comment, as do other US citizens. If I were Israeli I would want to defend my country if I though the comments were incorrect or unfair. Since this has not happened I assumed there were not many viewing the off topic section. I can’t believe you are admitting what they are saying is true so you must not be viewing the threads. Or maybe you just don't want to be confrontational.

It's not a matter of not wanting to be confrontational or to defend anyone. Posts like the one I responded to originally simply confuse me with their odd generalizations.

And maybe Israelis, by ignoring comments that make Americans feel they must defend their country, are defending Israel by not being sucked into the vacuum. Hm? (Look up Haaretz or Jtimes and see what Israelis deal with on a daily basis. Comments on message boards are pretty much at the bottom of the worry list.)

Interesting online papers batshalom thanks for the heads up. I do understand your position and will not comment further because it is not the intention or direction of the thread.

You can only bang your head against the wall so many times until you become aware of the uselessness of the action.

I just have a very hard head personally.

Jews here? Oy vey. You should have read what happened when I mentioned that my brother is a member of an ultra-orthodox sect in Jeruselem and that I don't really agree with his lifestyle. Everyone came out of the woodwork to chasten and/or defend me.

Yup, you know the old saying- two jews and three opinions. [;)]

Hey - I thought it was NINE opinions!  :)

(And that was a very interesting thread.)

To the OP:  I'm Jewish

hejira92 -> RE: israelis here? (1/28/2008 8:45:32 PM)

Only NINE? We still need one more for a minyan!

Old (and bad) minyan joke:
You need 10 men for a minyan, but only four in polyester pants and white shoes for pinochle.

I'm Irish on both sides but I dated a Jewish girl, until her father had "the talk" with me one night.
I also had "the talk" from a Greek girl's father and a full blooded Englishman who made no bones about the fact that he didn't want his daughter going out with "Irish trash from Boston."

adon58 -> RE: israelis here? (1/29/2008 9:28:55 AM)

Heard about the priest who asked before the sermon: Any Jews here? Please leave the church...
Heads turn as two guys get up and leave
The priest than asks, any half-Jews here? Please leave...
Another man and a woman get up and leave..
Finaly he asks any people here with Jewish ancestors?
So Mary's sculpture comes to life and she whispers to baby Jesus in her hands: Let's go son, they don't want us here

MadameTakhisis -> RE: israelis here? (2/26/2008 11:18:48 PM)

Here some Jew Knowledge. " Know your ledge".  Israel = IsIs-Ra-Elohim! Another trinity. For our Catholic loved ones (like my family) the Papacy or pope leg-acy  are clearly Egyptian. All signs and symbols point to Pharaoh, the staff, the hat, the robe as well as the priests belts which are red or orange (just like my Indonesian Gung fu masters). Can you say Pharoacy? The whole Scottish Right....or what ever they call it today..... the first man in a Kilt? Pharaoh! They etched it in stone just to make sure the haters could not steal it. Here is a question...... who gets paid from bible sales? #1 selling book for over 2,000 years! Here is another ..... Did you know that the letter J did not exist till after Jesus death except attached to the letter G! The J hanging on the G represented Power, together it was the blue print for the Baghdad battery with the inside of the G holding vinegar.The bottom of the J   was the ground and either top side left and right, being pos and neg. From the front the G,J looks like the T or the + sign. I know I know... I will shut up. I just hope one day soon we stop trying to live up to the past ( the ignorant`s of our fathers ) and start making right now the bases for creating a future for every one. Our Jewish friends say we are Agnostic. Our Agnostic friends say we are crazy.  The first book of the Bible is Jinn IsIs. the first words of a child is Bable. History needs to be her story. OK, hushed now thanks for being your selves. Anyone else on Nyquil tonight? Lol.
