Boy, wait till Prince Charles gets in office, he'll be kicking ass and taking names!

That's funny... Charles is one big Mummy's boy wimp. Thankfully, the political power in England is exercised by the Parliament.

LadyE, you're not "constrained" by the "U.N."
They have no authority to tell *any* country to do anything.

I'm afraid we signed up the charter regarding refugees Popeye - and perhaps one of our problems is that we tend to stick to these agreements nowadays; perhaps its post colonial guilt - after all we didnt think twice about breaking agreements back when we ruled the world. Same thing with the EU agreements - shame the rest dont seem to think adherence is required when their national interests are at stake.

Interesting thought - to get ahead and rule the world, one must be prepared to deceive and backstab all the way, with no thought for anyone but one's self..........

As for Charles - well, he's definitely in a different mould to his forebears; far more modern. Whilst I think we can look forward to a more modern form of royalty when he takes the throne, he doesnt really have any power even to formulate, let alone execute anything further than that I'm afraid. The newspapers go crazy whenever he as so much opens his mouth on any subject that could be vaguely described as political - because constitutionally, he's not permitted to do so.

Still, long live Lizzie2!

Oh so that is what they actually do in Westminster is it? Seems like these days I'm easily fooled.

LadyEllen -> RE: South Africa, Apartheid, Outsourcing - and India (1/26/2008 4:14:17 AM)

Exactly Stella! The true power is in The City (the financial district) and down at Canary Wharf, where those who have usurped our national interest ply their exploitative treason for the healthy profits that fund the campaigns of those who represent their interests in Parliament and law.

As I understand it, the Parliament is a place for old blokes and women to take the piss out of one another, shout and fall asleep at the tax payer's expense; on top of being a forum for exchanging contacts for out-of-school sexual acvtivities - mistresses, rent boys and assorted miscreants. Ultimately, Tarquin and associates get to continue their private school games.

On the positive side, it could be worse. When the Christian Democrat Nuccio Cusumano told the Italian house that he had decided to vote for Romano Prodi, against his party's line, a sympathetic political colleague yelled: "queer, cuckold, whore, toilet, piece of shit" and had to be held back from assaulting the senator; another party member spat in his face. 'Not quite on a par with referring to your colleagues as the right honourable gentleman.

Ah, but NG, the sides in our Parliament are two swords' lengths apart to prevent all this sort of thing you know?

Only a champion spittle wrangler could be that accurate over that distance.

Prime Minister's Question Time.

Tell you what though, imagine George Bush in with this lot - he'd get eaten alive.

LadyEllen -> RE: South Africa, Apartheid, Outsourcing - and India (1/26/2008 6:20:51 AM)

Bush wouldnt be able to find the House NG, and if he did he'd be unable to take part - far too many long words with more than two syllables for him to understand.

Mind you, he'd get on as well as a lot of the Tory backbenchers I should imagine.
