Greetings all,

I've noticed that many women put their first picture in their profile as one that is not bad, but not even close to being the best looking.   I've seen a lot of pictures with frizzed hair, little make up, etc.  Not bad pictures mind you, but a bit less flattering.

Then I click to other pictures in their profiles and see a gorgeous woman.

I am curious, is this done intentionally to keep down the number of e-mails from testosterone impaired drool monkeys?

I'm inclined to say the preference is one of presenting a natural appearance. I would rather someone see my everyday look. Hell, I'm at work on the picture I displayed. lol.

Your picture is quite nice, not all frillied up but very nice and not at all what I'm talking about.   I hestitate to post any links because I'm not sure how the individuals I am referring to would feel about it and am not seeking to offend in the least.

You can not post perfessional shots as your main profile picture, that very well might have something to do with it.

And I agree with salvetaboo, a person does not look perfect all the time so it a " Here I am, take me or leave me" kind of thing

I happen to find muumuus very sexy... LOL

There was a reason why the picture of my bum appeared as the 2nd pict.. and now there is a reason why it is not there at all... too many dumb emails.

Also a good reason why I took down the picture of me in the White formal... too many " Is that your wedding dress? Your husband is (insert comment here). Even though I had a big ol disclaimer that it was not a wedding dress.

It is also why I have not put up the "sexier" face picts of me, or any pictures showing my bust. I dont need the grief. They dont read the profile now as is.

I can not blame ladies who put up non flatering first picts. If the guy gets past that maybe they are worth talking to.

i dont get emails from men(thank god) ....several reasons why 1)i have tattoos - most men prefer women without them  2)genitals off limits stated in profile 3)im a lesbian

i dont wear makeup either..im better looking with the natural look.

very deliberately in my case - I chose the worst possible picture I could!

but I still get drool pouring out the screen from time to time........ sometimes its flattering, some times its just annoying

Nothing keeps trolls away.  Doesn't matter how flattering or unflattering the picture is. [8|]  i used to have a different picture up, finally i said screw it, put up a fairly decent picture, and only respond to emails that touch on something i said in my profile.  If the only thing they can comment on is my picture i have zero interest in responding.  hmmmmm well if i am in a nice mood i might send a polite thank you and a brush off.

Also, what you think looks best may not be what the person who posts their pics likes best.
It's all very subjective.

I actually like to see the first pic on a profile as a natural one.  It shows the real person.  So many men on here are looking for the fantasy...they don't seem to realize the we all have everyday lives and everyday responsibilities.  Not everyone can look gorgeous all the time.  I mean, people ask me all the time how I manage to look gorgeous every single day. [:D]  Easy...lots of Cajun food!  [;)]
