megan2007 -> Quotes that can be applied to reflections on WIITWD (1/24/2008 1:12:05 AM)

Well, as per usual, I cant sleep.  So, I was web surfing, and I came across some quotes (I love quotes).  And as I was reading down the list, it occured to me that many of these, could be applied to at least certain aspects of WIITWD.

Some for dominant types, some for submissive types.  Some for the d/s, some for the bdsm...And so on.  I'm sure if I searched more, I could find no end to applicable quotes, but I'll just leave the ones that I thought were, from the one page I stumbled on.

So...without further ado, I'll post the ones that I've found (so far at least) applicable.  And I look forward to seeing what others might post.

"At the time, my life just seemed too complete, and maybe we have to break everything to make something better out of ourselves."-Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club Chapter 6)

"It's only after you've lost everything," Tyler says, "that you're free to do anything."-Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club Chapter 8)

"Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing."-Fight Club (The Movie)

"And then, something happened. I let go. Lost in oblivion. Dark and silent and complete. I found freedom. Losing all hope was freedom."-Fight Club (The Movie)

"I got the better end of the deal. I only lent you my body - you lent me your dream."-Gattaca

"To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom."-Bertrand Russell

"Love seeketh not itself to please, nor for itself hath any care, but for another gives its ease, and builds a Heaven in Hell's despair."-William Blake

Those who restrain their desires, do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained."-William Blake

If you can command yourself you can command the world." Chinese proverb

"You create your own reality. "-Seth

You must do the thing you think you cannot do."-Eleanor Roosevelt

"Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens."-Carl Jung

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."-Albert Einstein

Do, or do not. There is no 'try'."- Yoda

"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them."-Albert Einstein

"Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens."-Jimi Hendrix

"Make yourself necessary to somebody."-Ralph Waldo Emmerson

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."-Ralph Waldo Emmerson

How about....

"How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being." ~ Oscar Wilde

"Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence."  ~ Abigail Adams

"The purpose of life is to find your 'gift'. The meaning of life is to give it away." ~ Author unknown\

"Life's like a movie. Write your own ending." - Kermit

"You are exactly where you are supposed to be exactly when you are supposed to be there." ~ Author unknown

(...since you went Yoday)...."You must give up that which you fear to lose the most."

*tips his hat*

Some of the quotes suck. Without pain , without sacrifice we would have nothing. What the hell does pain have to do with anything. Do or do not, there is no try. Duhh if you dont try in the first place how are you going to do it. You must do the thing that you think you can not do. I dont think that I can rob a big bank. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom. Some big person is comming to kick the shit out of you. Where do you find the wisdom in that. The purpose in life is to find your gift, the meaning of life is to give it a way. If I find a Lamborgini Im sure as hell not going to give it away.  The one quote that I do agree on is How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insist on treating her as if she were a perfectly norman human being. How true that is.

one of my favorites is in my sig line.

If you listen to music alot you will find more, often in songs that have nothing to do with BDSM. Tool has alot of one liners that the subject of the song is not even close.

You've got your head down, and your hands down, and your eyes shut, you look so precious. Prison Sex
Choices always were a problem for you, what you need is someone strong to guide you, like me. Opiate

One of my all time favorite quotes is from Oscar Wilde: "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."

This is one of my favorites:

How could we forget those ancient myths that stand at the beginning of all races, the myths about dragons that at the last moment are transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love. ~~Rainer Maria Rilke

Here are a few more. . .

No party is any fun unless seasoned with folly. —Desiderius Erasmus

If you want to kiss the sky better learn how to kneel. . .on your knees boy. - U2 "Mysterious Ways"

I feel the magic all around you
Its bringing me to my knees
Like a wannabe
I've gotta be chained to you
- Savage Garden "Chained to You" (These guys have some obvious kink references in a lot of their songs)

This is one of my favorites, but it might just be me. . .

[Jim] would corner Dagny and smile derisively, saying, "All those airs you put on, pretending you're an iron woman with a mind of your own! You're a spineless dishrag, that's all you are. It's disgusting, the way you let that conceited punk order you about. He can twist you around his little finger. The way you run when he whistles and wait on him! Why don't you shine his shoes?"

"Because he hasn't told me to," she answered.
-Ayn Rand Atlas Shrugged (This book is full of D/s themes)

I could think of more, and may come back, but the UMs are buggin me.

KLG
over.

Rule, after you have first learned to submit to rule.

ride it like you stole it is a mash of 'drive it like you stole it' which i believe came from either a Honda Integra GSR car advert from many years ago in the UK. and its been used on grand theft auto gamer tshirts too :)

edited to correct car maker.
