Being a cajun from southwest Louisiana...lagniappe is a big part of our culture. Cajuns are mostly a fun loving people...and one of the reasons may be because we always get and give a little lagniappe in our lives every day . (Using fast reply) A very thought provoking question. I'm very glad to see it. I do tend to see it a bit differently. I see My husband as My primary relationship, of course, therefore the meat, the sustenance, of the plate. I look at My collared submissive more as the vegetables, rather than the potatoes. I think I make the analogy more to the vitamin content, rather than the starch. My casual play partners are more the 'filler'.

Since I am not in a relationship now, I can't really comment on that. But "lagniappe" is one very cool word, and one I am very familiar with being Cajun and all. It is also cool to see so many others of my heritage belong to CM. What fun!

Damn. I thought this thread was going to be about some sort of exotic new toy, like maybe an intricately woven Spanish quirt, an anciet Scottish Tawse or an Australian Maori hunting implement that could be thrown accross a room and would wrap itself tightly around a sub's limbs. Kinda reminds me of the time a few weeks back when I was in a hotel room, flipping through the cable tv channels and saw there was going to be a program starting in an hour called, "Unique Whips". I decided to stay in, instead of going to dinner and then found out it was about some third rate celeb's fancy cars.

Both words are excellent. I think I prefer cum shaw a bit more - at least the meaning. Sounds a bit like a part of my character of being one who facilitates.
