I got more the impression he wanted to be president, he just didn't want to -campaign- for president. Which is, of course, why his campaign failed. He didn't put all his energy into it.

Too true! His whole premise was kind of proving that an "ultra" conservative candidate had a chance... well never mind him now that the republican party has Huckabee, who has campaigned harder, and actually run a smart race. (I'm just hoping Rudy won't have to take his leave. I like the man!)

Why the hell would he want to be President? I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want that job. Thompson is rich and has a hot, young wife to come home to. He doesn't need the headache. I think he got pushed into running by others.
