Sorry, I just use "subbing" for any situation which involves submission. It can be as simple as kneeling at his feet, or stopping what I'm doing at his request. Those alone won't get me to the really good headspace, but when combined with others they sometimes will help. Sex also involves "subbing" frequently. Play would be b&d, or s&m, anything involving stronger physical sensations. or more intricate instructions. If I can do it in front of family and friends (except the sex part), it's "subbing". If it's reserved for alone time, it's play! [:D] Those are my usages, though, I'm sure others use the words differently.
