Dr.Phil's show is on now, and this show is dedicated to Brittney Spears.

Dr. Phil Dedicating Show to Britney - Britney Spears, Phil McGraw : People.com

So easy to judge without really knowing what is going on, Dr.Phil seems to be doing a great
job explaining.
He is also explaining why he retired his license for private practice in Texas.

Bravo! Dr.Phil

Yeehaw, more time in the public eye with the nation judging her mental health and will be making fun of her for it in half an hour. I'm sure that is exactly what she needs.

Dr Phil McGraw is a fucking fraud (his popularity never ceased to amaze me) and Britney Spears is sick. The fact that these two individuals are making headline news following Paris Hilton's much publicised jailing last spring goes to show how fucked up the media's priorities are. Oh wait... it's because we're ready to buy their shit.

Isn't there some ethical promise where a doctor doesn't talk about a patient?  I guess if Dr. Phil doesn't have a license, he's not a doctor, so he can benefit from the downfall of a patient.  Well done indeed.

Exactement... It looks like being on television qualifies as a professional qualification. Scawwwy!

As I said in the previous thread, Phil McGraw's constant self-aggrandisement is sickening. Have to admire his piggy-back to celebritydom (with Oprah's assistance)... It must have taken a considerable amount of bloody-mindedness that only someone with little to no conscious can achieve. As for ethics regarding patient confidentiality... that only applies if someone has become the patient of a specific psychiatrist - I think I'm right in saying that. McGraw wasn't Spears' therapist given that he isn't licensed to practice and was sought only in a private/personal capacity from what I gather.

The OP congratulates him on doing a good job, and they're right in many respects... Afterall, he's spent many years fine-tuning the art of PR.

In the last 48 hours he's applied copious quantities of lubricant to ensure nothing sticks... infact, there will be many who will support his 'stand up and tell it like it is' stance, which will be that 'someone had to make a stand and try to protect this girl from this spiralling maelstrom of self-harm'. So people's focus once again will be on Spears and he'll have side-stepped any accountability.

Like parents who didn't allow her to go on stage and sell her sexuality when she was 15? I don't want to think about how I would have turned out if my sexuality had been on the market like that and knowing that guys were wanking over me when my breasts hadn't even fully grown yet. And at 15, I wouldn't have been smart enough to go "Hey... this is a really bad decision".

Dr Phil and his ilk will vanish, when we stop caring about what he spews.  Frankly, I don't blame the supplier of anything 'bad' for us.  I blame the person who invests time and money into it.  The reason we have shit on TV, is the same reason we pump shit into our veins, up our noses, or into our children's brains. I don't blame the folks who manufacture shit; I blame folks who allow it into their lives.

Some of us like Phil McGraw, and some of us don't like Phil.

The reason I even started this OP, was to state that Phil has been working with
Brittney's mother and family for over a year.
Phil was going to do a show about how hard it is to parent a young celebrity, and
Brittney's mom agreed to be on the show, LONG before Brittney her latest a meltdown.

I also believe Phil was using his celebrity to capitalize and someone exploit Brittney.
Phil said he will continue to work with the family, and I think he was apologizing for
grandizing a bit.

At the end of the day, Brittney needs help, whether she gets it from Phil or not.

no one here denies she needs help but it needs to be done with reputable therapists who are not paid for out of pocket by large publicly traded corporations. It needs to be in a facility where she can be monitored because she is obviously a threat to herself and those around her, and she needs to be kept there for the long term therapy none of this, oh i feel like it today but tomorrow i wont so why bother shit.

I agree tigerlilly, but many do not realize that Phil has been in touch
with her mother and other family members for over a year.

Brittney's mother contacted Phil and wanted Phil to help her.
I am not sure if she contacted anyone else, but she sure contacted
Dr. Phil.

So people need to lay off Phil a bit, if people come running to him for help,
they choose HIM.

Wow take one look at her family and you can see how much he sucks at what he does.  They've gotten much worse in the past few months.  It's time for her family to seek a professional.

lol, Katy I agree with you on that one.
IF Phil has been helping for over a year, maybe they need to at least
call someone else.
But what IF Mommy of Brittney Spears wanted a wee bit publicity for herself?
hummmm
