RazorJAK -> One more year (1/20/2008 10:49:12 AM)

366 days before Captain Chimpy Fuckstain McBunnypants and Satan are gone!

And only a generation or more to recover from the damage they did.

This calls for a drink.

Let freedom ring!

GabrielleSlave -> RE: One more year (1/20/2008 11:02:04 AM)

Good grief, i thought the election was sooner than that.  We are hearing alot about it here (UK) so thought it must be in a couple of months.

Thanks PM

DomKen -> RE: One more year (1/20/2008 11:03:19 AM)

The election is in November but we wait till January the next year to swear in the new President.

TheHeretic -> RE: One more year (1/20/2008 11:06:04 AM)

It will probably take me that long to brace myself for speaking respectfully of the office while Hillary is in it.

GabrielleSlave -> RE: One more year (1/20/2008 11:07:34 AM)

i see...  So what (probably stupid question) are primaries?

Rich, I hadn't thought of that....

PanthersMom -> RE: One more year (1/20/2008 11:10:20 AM)

they find the most popular people from the parties and then we all vote for one or the other.  notice i said most popular, not best qualified.

You mean they're not running again? :-(

Ah, well, rules are rules.  Maybe Bush can retire and finally get some peace and quiet without people saying that he's both an evil mastermind and a bumbling idiot.  There will still be some of us who support him and his presidency.  Granted, I don't support -everything-that he did.  Primarily his increasing the size of the federal government and his outrageous spending.  Still, I think all and all he was a good man who's presidency historians will end up debating a lot.

TheHeretic -> RE: One more year (1/20/2008 11:13:03 AM)

Primaries are when the parties choose the candidates who will run in the general election.  They are scattered all over the winter and spring, party conventions to annoint are in the summer and then the actual vote first Tuesday in November.

Hence Hilary gets a go....?  But then politics everywhere is the same.  Even though we have had a lady prime minister, i cannot see HC in the Oval Office...now Condaleeza Rice looks a great lady real politician from this side of the pond...

Good grief, what a long process!

I split the difference and claim he's a bumbling idiot trying to be an evil mastermind.

Meh,  the main debate as I see it will be who was the worst president,  him or his ancestor Franklin Pierce.

Which is why we hold our Presidential elections in Leap Years.

We need the extra day!! [:D]

DomKen -> RE: One more year (1/20/2008 11:27:34 AM)

I view him as incompetent and Cheney as the evil mastermind.
