Level -> Romney's stimulus plan (1/19/2008 7:09:52 PM)

quote:

Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney said on Saturday his $233.4 billion U.S. economic stimulus plan would rescue an economy on the "tipping point" of recession.

The former Massachusetts governor's package, details of which were reported on Friday, centers on several permanent tax cuts and would permanently reduce the rate for the lowest income tax bracket to 7.5 percent from 10 percent, retroactive to 2007.

Romney, briefing reporters on a flight to Florida from Nevada, where he won that state's presidential nominating contest, said the income tax cut would put $400 into the pockets of taxpayers and cost $49.8 billion to help stimulate the U.S. economy, which he said "is at a tipping point" of a recession.

More election-year crap.

The downturn in the economy is just a symptom of the real problem--bad budgeting in D.C. The wars are creating more debt than the country can absorb, and no end is in sight. Tax breaks will only make things worse, but it's what brings in the votes; no politician is actually going to solve anything, not in an election year.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....

The post also says:  "The multimillionaire former venture capitalist, who is projecting an image of executive-style leadership, said the stimulus would need to be executed in 30 days to work."

Considering he won't get in to office (if elected) until January 20, 2009....and since of course his plan won't be implemented in the next 30 days (since he ain't the Prez, ergo it'll be the Prez's plan....not Romney's)...he can always argue forevermore if or when the current plan fails..."my plan would have worked".
