Go look in the "Alternative Lifestyle In The News" forum for stories of Pro-Dommes being arrested & prosecuted.

Yes, and if memory serves me correctly they were exchanging sex in some form as well. If flogging or needle insertation for money was illegal, you wouldn't be able to do it at one the events I attend.

The law would say that a Pro-Domme is a prostitute

Actually the law in my country has never made the inference.  In fact clearly defining to me why what I was doing wasnt.

Saying that a Pro Domme isn't in control because she asks for money is like saying saying that any business owner is not in control in their market.  While that might be true for an upstart who only has one or two clients, it's not true for someone with experience and/or skill.

The only difference is that a Pro Domme is in the practise of selling power - which may be where the confusion comes in.  The financial transaction, once the scene starts, has little to do with what happens within.  Yes, one will lean to give what the 'customer' wants...however, within their own realm of interest (within their own limits).  I don't know about you, but that sounds an awful lot like what I do locally as a Domme.  As much as the Dommes think they are in control, relationships have to be fulfilling and useful for them to continue...even ones that involve money.

I've always been curious as to the interest to Pro Dominantion (services for money).

services for money sums it up nicely.

Whoever pulls the money in on a relationship will always, ultimately, be able to take control.

However.. a Domme is free to walk away when she's displeased, correct?  I'm not sure if a pro would be so liable to.  After all, the money is compelling her to perform a service she wouldn't otherwise do, so the client obviously has some control over her.

I'm afraid I haven't thought into it much further than this.  To me, prostitution like this is distasteful.  Not something I really have much against.. just, well.. "distasteful" is a suitable word.

"Domination" in quotes refers to the BDSM sense while domination outside of quotes refers to the more general sense.  Not that the BDSM version is a fake word or anything, but it's just to clarify.

Also, this is not to suggest that all Domme's are finicially dependent or physically weaker than their male sub's.  This is simply the first place I noticed it, as I started to think into it when contemplating their dynamics.

Spoken from true ignorance!

Amongst the many pro-dominants I have met, many of whom I consider as friends they always:

'spead their risk' by having as many clients as they can to ensure they can always shut out a client who they no longer want around

they pride themselves as being independent and would despise any 'Mistress' dependent on one client as a 'kept women'

They enjoy what they do and would probably do it, even if they didn't need the money

I would accept that some pro-dominants may have been prostitutes once; some still are

But the majority do not prostitute themselves with their clients; they provide a service both parties enjoy

Yes, they take money - the rent or mortgage, the food and utility bills have to be paid, so what?

I have heard of one girl abused by a pro-domme. I have heard of hundreds abuse by male Dominants.

Any male Dominant claiming the moral high ground on this issue is talking through his ignorant arse.
