Sabella -> For the girls~ (1/14/2008 8:22:29 AM)

I have some girl friends coming to visit next weekend and they've been under an extrordinary amount of stress recently with work, current living arrangement, house hunting, doctor visits ect.

It's a brief weekend away from all that stress & I've been thinking of fun & relaxing things they would enjoy but mostly on the little things to make them more comfortable while they are here. I've already got some things lined up like some time out on the town, foofie bath stuff stocked up, meals & snacks planned I know they like, ect. I still have work to do in the room they'll be staying in (we're renovating) but I'm going to have it as hotel-room like as I can with little extras, some flowers & chocolate :)

What would be YOUR perfect setting for a de-stressing weekend away?

Hehe. Totally agreed. Or a marathon of a television show you know they like that you can rent.

 Personally though one thing to keep in mind is not to overwhelm them with things they're expected to do. If i want a relaxing weekend that would probably include some time to relax with no deadlines. If you plan too many things and are too excited about showing them a good time they might feel pressured to do the things you planned so you don't feel bad rather than simply escape from expectations. But you know your friends better than i do and that might just be my own weird introverted personality.

Hope you have a good weekend. :)

charlotte

Good point! We're going to the aquarium (their idea) on Saturday so I thought going beforehand to get lunch out & some window shopping close by (they love shopping here) would be right up their alley :) I didn't plan anything else tho I'm sure they will want a visit at some point to the local naughty store to see what's new.

I think I'll move my TV in that room and the stack of movies too. I wish I could kidnap them til they find their own house [:@]

ownedgirlie -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 11:52:33 AM)

I have a massage therapist who does house calls.  I have had massage parties, in which she has come over with her table, candles and music, and we've spent a lazy afternoon/evening getting massages, snacking on olives, cheese, etc, and wine, got massages, and watched movies.

Just last Saturday I went to a friend's for the evening, and three of us girls made seared Ahi, drank wine, and watched a movie.  I do stuff like that a couple of times a month with my girl friends.  We keep saying we'll rotate homes but we always seem to migrate to the home with the 46" HD LCD TV and cushy leather couches and fireplace...[8D]

Sabella -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 12:09:50 PM)

Massages sounds awesome! what a great idea :) I could use one today, LOL. You're so lucky Ownedgirlie! All my wenches live several states away, grrrr. [:o]

gorgeous1 -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 12:45:09 PM)

One of the things that I hate about "girlie time" is how women bash on their men. I feel left out...and glad to be so. I don't think my husband is a bad guy and I have no desire to make him look bad. How about having time for the girls to talk about what they love about their significant other or helping those who are single to compile a list of the top ten things they want in a great guy?

Sabella -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 12:48:19 PM)

They are a lesbian couple :) if they start bashing each other they can take it out in the yard [:D]

Seriously tho, yes I know what you mean - I have been around women before who did that, WHY do they do that!? ugh

Just the same reason men do it in the locker room... gossip.

LaTigresse -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 1:07:51 PM)

Lots of wine, dark chocolate, and a hot tub.

Great sheets and pillows on a comfy bed. A room that is not too hot. Super soft blankets to wrap myself up in. A really clean bathroom. (hate staying in a place with old pubies in the drain) No expections at all. Knowing that I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, with no schedule. If they do not smoke, a smoke-smell free room. Hard to do in smoking house but I detest the smell. No loud obnoxious noises, like small bratty children or pets. Aka, what some people find cute and endearing others may find annoying as hell. If light or noise is a problem, provide a way for them to block it while they sleep. Their favourite morning beverages/food. Fresh water on the nightstand.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

Sabella -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 1:08:05 PM)

Then the bikinis, jello & video cameras should put a stop to all that nonsense, LOL! Mmm...how about jello shooters!?

<---adds that to my grocery list

Hmm...can u drink jello??? i guess if you microwave it...but i think if you micro it..it would just blow up in the microwave....  jelloball guns.... instead of paintball... that would be interesting....  or gummi bear guns... YUM...

gorgeous1 -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 2:17:00 PM)

Ohhhh....ok a lesbian couple. Then alas, my dear, I can be of no assistance to you.

Just kidding! How about watching the movie "Bound"? Rad chick flick, way better than Message in a Bottle. Hate that movie!

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 2:23:17 PM)

perfect setting for a de-stressing weekend:

pizza, chocolate walnut brownie bites, french vanilla ice cream, root beer, Pink Floyd music and watching The Wall on DVD.  my moblie stays off for 24hrs after locking myself indoors and the UMs are at their grandpa's/Nana's.

ahhhhhhhhhh

Aileen1968 -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 7:02:30 PM)

Get pedicures after the massages.  Drink wine heavily throughout.

Aileen1968 -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 7:03:47 PM)

And you should watch Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 or The Descent.
Both are good chick flicks.

KatyLied -> RE: For the girls~ (1/14/2008 7:04:55 PM)

Massage is the way to go.  After a good one you feel drunk whether you've been drinking or not!

Hostel 1 and 2 also great chick flicks...specially with #2 being a female killer!
