lol too bad I messed it up so badly. The new information is going to completely change this story. I knew that this would be a great thread, but only if I wrote it out right to begin with. I should have waited til the site was up before attempting to write the details by memory.

kc692 -> RE: Here's A Story..... (1/12/2008 8:43:31 AM)

Start a new thread with the right story, that way people can give both viewpoints seperately ?

edited to add; that way maybe we have two good threads to answer and read this weekend, lol!!!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Here's A Story..... (1/12/2008 8:47:56 AM)

I am only attracted to other dominants, so this guy would probably be a dream date.  IF he was not a co-worker.  That whole workplace romance thing?  Uh-uh, no way.

My big issue with the guy is not the "manipulation", but that he somehow "knew" she was a dominant.  How?  Does he know the secret handshakes?  Do we have forehead markings only visible to submissives? <makes mental note to cut bangs>  There is a world of folks who are competent, large and in charge, who are not remotely kinky.   This harkens to those games of "who is kinky" that some like to play....to me, annoying and possibly putting a role on someone that they do not want.

Would I be angry with him?  No, not really.  I would really give him bonus points for having the sense to not be all out there with something potentially damaging to career and friendship.

MsBearlee -> RE: Here's A Story..... (1/12/2008 9:02:31 AM)

Damn...I got sidetracked; when I started my response there was a single response!  Three pages!  WOW

Yeah, why not re-do the story and start a new thread.

MistressOfGa -> RE: Here's A Story..... (1/12/2008 9:34:39 AM)

KC,
I wrote earlier today in another thread that I am attracted to the kind of sub who is strong and capable of managing his own affairs. Independent and strong. It is a much sweeter conquest to have a strong independent man serving me than one who is so easily taken. I love to work for what I get :)

I don't mind working just a bit......(not too much, then they are just a sam pain in the ass, rfl).  I do agree with you that it needs to be special!! I have a boy/man that is retired military of 31 years, ran the base near here till retirement, owns a large establishment here and I love to watch him at work, everyone running when he speaks oh so softly to tell them what he wants done.  In private, when he kneels and says, What can I do for you , MiLady.....grrrr, get's the juices flowin!!!![;)]  Some even notice the quiet deference when I am at his business, because he is that dominant in his everyday life, so I agree, that submission is oh so sweet!!!!

BTW, you were right, lol.  The different details make for a whole different answer.  I will tackle that thread later, grinz!!!!!

OK, bear with me while I try to give this example without getting all mixed up about it. Here is the story:

A man and a woman meet at work and begin a friendship. The man is a submissive, but because of his work he keeps that information to himself and he is extremely private about it. He acts in a manner that is consistent with one who is dominant in the work place so no one will guess that he is submissive. The woman on the other hand is a Dominant, he can tell by her words and actions that she is. He wants to tell her that he is submissive and even hopes that she will accept him and possibly want to begin a D/s relationship with him, but he knows that it may endanger his job, so he keeps it to himself as he continues to act confident and sure of himself, making hard core decisions and really hiding his other half, even in the privacy of their friendship, while off work.

Time passes. He has developed an attraction for his friend simply because she is dominant. So he starts to manipulate the friendship by using inside knowledge of WIITWD on this woman. She questions every now and then as to his submissiveness but thinks better of it, since he seems so strong and takes the initiative when it comes to business dealings. Yet, she finds herself becoming attracted to this rather domly man. She in fact starts to question her own predilection because of her ever growing feelings for a dominant male. There is just something about him that attracts her and it makes her uncomfortable, because she had never been attracted to a dominant male.

More time passes. Months go by and he finally gets up the nerve to ask her out on a "real" date. Although she knows better and she knows he is not what she is looking for, she agrees to a dinner date. He is a gentleman on this date, opening the doors for her, holding her arm as they are seated, ect..all the while his heart is pounding because he thinks that this is a good night to tell her of his own predilection.

So much time has passed and he has used his knowledge of what she is to manipulate his way into her heart.

Should he tell her now?

What would your reaction be if something like this had happened to you?

Would you feel relieved to learn that the person you are/were so attracted to is indeed a submissive?

Or would  you be so angry that you would end the friendship right then and there?

For the Dominants, you can reverse the situation, exchanging the male for the female roles. (If you want to).

This is a made up story, based on something that I read on the forums today. In no way does it reflect me or anyone that I know.

It;s either courting (office style) or its sexual harassment (office style)
My only exoeriences of office life have been replicas of Ricky Gervais comedies so I could not imagine anything worse than anything based around an office.
Now if he'd met her on a park bench and happened to manipulate their meeeings so that it became regular...
or he came to fix her water heater once too often...
or to fix her car.....
or better still in a car park
or whilst walking the dog.....

but I think offices are just one of my hard limits.......

I am not sure I get why anyone would be mad.  She never told him she was dominant, he just guessed it and then let his submissive side out around her.  Sounds like good old fashioned courting.

Taggard

yes, what Taggard said.

PsyVamp -> RE: Here's A Story..... (1/12/2008 4:04:27 PM)

Wouldn't really apply to me because I am attracted to men in general. When I am attracted to a dominant man, I do not question my motives, I am simply reacting to him on a male/female level and as long as he doesn't expect me to submit, all is well.  I am dominant no matter to whom I'm attracted.

MissOchistic -> RE: Here's A Story..... (1/12/2008 5:47:59 PM)

It really doesn't sound like manipulation to me. It sounds like dropping hints about a possible common interest, and her having a positive reaction to it.

My boy is an historian. He reenacts civil war times, complete with costume. I love to hear him talk about how he has to drill (Yell) at the tours that come to the fort. I can imagine him standing there tall, in the sun, his green eyes shining as he yells "ATTENTION!!" So dominant in the work place and such a puppy at my feet. If they only knew... <g>
I love the idea that you have a military man..31 years of telling people what to do..and then to own an establishment, speaking quietly to his staff.
God I love submissives! [:D]

Or would  you be so angry that you would end the friendship right then and there?

"No harm...no foul."

After all, many of us have to be discrete in the workplace to survive in the workplace.  So, it took a few months of friendship for him to trust her enough to share his secret.  Did she really expect him to "break cover" any sooner?  I should think she'd be flattered that he trusted her with such a huge secret in the first place.

It is hard enough to find suitable, local partners in WIITWD.  I would hope that she would rejoice at the gift that fate had laid at her feet, and not look a gift horse in the mouth.

Exactly.  I don't think he's being deceptive about not revealing his role in his workplace at all.  If he knows for sure she is in the lifestyle and is friends with her and trusts her, why would he not now tell her?

Lordandmaster -> RE: Here's A Story..... (1/13/2008 12:07:34 AM)

Why would I be angry?  I'd be glad.  I'd be angry if someone tried to deceive me.  For someone not to tell me about her submissive tendencies in a professional setting is hardly deceiving me.

One little disclaimer though: if this were someone connected to me through work, I wouldn't touch the situation with a ten-foot pole.

I wouldn't either. I couldn't imagine having my submissive at my work place.
