Slaughtered any bald eagles while you were at it? You do realize that rattlesnakes occupy the same place in the ecosystem, and that they are incredibly easy to just move over with a stick. If you don't frighten them and act like a total asshat, you can pose them pretty much any way you want them with said stick and take pretty pictures before leaving them to go about their lives. If you really need them off your property you can move them into a container and transport them to a venom lab or university where their removal from the ecosystem will be humane and will also do some good for medical research. I don't really recommend that untrained people get too close to venomous snakes, but for fuck's sake, when we're talking about any of the species in North America, anyone can walk around them at a leisurely pace and manipulate them with a long instrument at their leisure.

Apparently you panic at snakes, since there is otherwise no goddamn motherfucking reason to behead them.
Let me tell you a story about reptile metabolic rates, living tissue that is as full of nerve endings and as capable of feeling pain as any mammal's, and a brain that can survive both extended lack of oxygen and extreme metabolic acidosis. The moral of this story is that there is no really humane way to kill a snake without drugs. It's possible that instant and complete brain destruction would qualify, though there's still some doubt there. Beheading doesn't, and it's death by slow torture for them.
Oh, and about 90% of the snakes identified as a "copperhead" and more than half of the snakes identified as a "rattlesnake" by some ignoramus who tortured them to death for no good reason turn out to be nonvenomous when positively ID'd by a herpetologist.
Hope I've made myself abundantly clear here. Anyone who attacks and kills by slow torture a small, fragile animal that can easily be walked around or physically contained deserves the natural consequences of their ignorance. Over 80% of snake envenomations in North America occur because the person attacked the snake. Snakes don't attack people, though they do defend themselves when startled or attacked first.
There is nothing admirable or macho about killing a snake, not when you know how easy it is to gently move or contain that animal with no fuss whatsoever. Most of the North American venomous species are so easy to work with that most non-invasive scientific procedures can be done on them with little or no restraint. So how macho is it to kill one when you know how easy it is for a herper to just pick them up and move them around anywhere they want? You might as well go stomp kittens. It's about as challenging.
My contribution to the game? Real doms don't act like asshats to the local wildlife, especially top-level predators and threatened or protected species. They rescue and rehabilitate them.
