Not a surprise. Paul has a bunch of very loyal supporters.

Winning text polls on fox is one thing. Winning delegates is quite another. It doesnt matter how much money he has or how many FOX polls he wins....if he doesnt win delegates, it's over.

I would say this comment here says a great deal about all those damn polls everyone places so much stock in whenever they say what it is that they want then to say (look at all the polls that have bashed Bush)....polls reflect the response of those asking the questions want them too. Ask questions about Hillary in a room full of Republicans and she won't fair to well....when are we gonna just start putting these polls in perspective... damn the polls and listen to facts...

Cyberdude, I am of the opinion that much of the support he gets in text polls, is simply democrats trying to puff him up.  I don't think he really has all that many supporters.

What is the relevance of a text poll?

Well, the text poll specifically asked potential respondees their opinions regarding who won this specific debate. It doesn't mean the winner is going to win the state, or win the Republican candidacy, or be elected POTUS. Winning the debate doesn't mean anything beyond winning the debate.

I'm curious, how many of you guys actually watched last night's debate? I did, and I think Paul did very well.

Did anyone notice the moderator trying to exclude Paul from the Reagan economic discussion? Paul would have nothing of it, and specifically requested to partake in the discussion.

Most of what Paul said made plenty of sense, and he received at least as much overall applause as anyone else there received.

Afuckinmazing, now we demonstrate our espousal or disdain for a candidate simply to express support or present contempt for a useless politically inspired News Magazine...

What happened to the idea that the media should present us with truths and hold the Government undeniably accountable in order to maintain a more perfect union? Why give ratings to media outlets that have lost focus on their primary duties when it comes to our national integrity? If they forget their true purpose it shall not be long until their mission no longer serves the people.

If I look disappointed it would seem I am justified in as much.

C'mon, Bull, you know the American Public doesn't care squat for facts.  They's just not enough advertising support for them

This is, as I understand it, exactly what happened and I for one found it hilarious. As you said, "polls reflect the response [that] those asking the questions want them to". Well, Fox overtly tried to cast Paul in the worst light possible. Afterwards, Paul won the poll. While Ron Paul does have his share of fervent supporters with too much time on their hands, it's my understanding that many of the people who participated in the 'text poll' did it for laughs. Ron Paul doesn't have a shot in hell at actually winning the nomination, let alone the election, and the American-Idol style poll is nothing more than an inaccurate network gimmick anyhow, so the only real loser is News Corporation.

Perhaps the voting system really is rigged.

Don't start those tin hat allegations now, I said PERHAPS.

Yeah, you gotta wonder how Paul wins so many straw polls, but nothing else. Are you suggesting that something is (whoops... you did say perhaps) rotten in Denmark?

What do you see as Democrats' motivation for doing that?

DC, same as the republicans supporting/funding Nadars run in 2000.  What is hard to understand about why the Dems would want the Reps to have a bad nominee?  Or to split the base?  There are already at least 2 posts on this page about some sort of plot and conspiricy, because the actuall one time voting of registered voters is very different than the meaningless non vetted in anyway straw poll.

That I get, but Paul seems like such a dark horse that I'm not sure why Dems would find it worth their energy to try to influence his poll numbers.

Dc, I would put more weight on the OR part of my response.  To split the base.  There are posts on this page of people who are "republicanish" (not that either side has a lock on any voters) who are convinced there is a plot involved in the descrepency, between the results and the text polls.  That would seem invaluable to the Dems.  There has been at least one thread recently about crossing party lines for the primary.  And I could swear I heard folks on Air America encouraging people to vote for Paul in the text polls,  Ed Schultz, if I recall correctly.   Several Left wing posters have been supportive of Paul, and I thought it was fake.   Not trying to alledge anything nefarious, and I do think the Reps did virtually the same in 2000 with Nadar, again for equally transpaerant reasons.
