Katy...feel free to go ahead and use it.

Actually Master is the one who uses it to desribe Himself on occassion. Especially when He thinks i have asked a question, which i should already know the answer to, and he then gives me a smart assed, or sarcastic response. (playfully of course, never hurtfully, or mean, and always said with a twinkle in his eye)

Now THIS is the kind of thread that keeps me coming back to the Collarme forums...Thanks for the giggles everyone.

And for the record, I do not not consider myself to be a SAM since I do not consider myself a masochist...

Hell, I'm even going to feel free to deny being a smart-ass since my sir doesn't read the forums...

PS. Did we scare Iamcurious off, or answer the question?

SAM = Single Asian Male

- Speaking as an admirer of the same, I keep my eye out for this little acronym. It is as Target said. Even now, same in online profiles as in print, it's Single Asian Male, just as SWF is Single White Female - marital status, race, gender.

Sammie = Smart-Assed Masochist

These terms are sometimes regional, but I have always heard this acronym lengthened from SAM to Sammie, when referring to a Smart-Assed Masochist.

The trouble with SAM and Sammie is that they both sound and look like an actual first name (well, it's usually spelled "Sammy," for the common name, but...), so that the intended meaning can be missed by readers.

This may be why SAM, especially, is not so commonly used. I see "Azn" sometimes used, now, to indicate Asian.
