Kalista07 -> Ownership?? (1/9/2008 8:41:15 AM)

So, as i've been roaming the halls of CM lately a thought has occured to me.......Exactly what is required for ownership to take place? i guess for some, it's required for them to have actually engaged in a D/s or M/s dynamic and have had sex....Others it's clearly not so much....What does it take for You?

thetammyjo -> RE: Ownership?? (1/9/2008 8:43:26 AM)

It took seven months of training, a clear matching of definitions and desires, Fox moving in and finally a contract in my household.

We reaffirm this ownership every day when I command and he obeys, when he does things he had no desire or interest merely to make my life easier. and when I exercise my authority.

It has no real meaning to anyone outside the household though we do appreciate when people respect our dynamic and do not actively and negatively judge us.

I would be unable to put it into words. For myself; it has nothing to do with orientation; and everything to do with the person himself.

KatyLied -> RE: Ownership?? (1/9/2008 8:45:25 AM)

For me it would have to be part of an ongoing relationship where there was an agreement over the "owned" part and exactly what it means, it would be defined.  It isn't enough just to say "I own you."  It's also a state of mind, if that makes any sense, knowing that there is a higher person to whom I am obligated.  I feel that submissives can be and are "owned" although some would disagree with this.

trust in a higher power, a Master of integrity and the strength of this slave's commitment.

it also means relying on the Owner to meet her basic needs, while she in turn focuses 100% of her time, energy, talents, skills and attention to the Owner's wants.

takenbyjohnr07 -> RE: Ownership?? (1/9/2008 8:52:52 AM)

It's a great question. i hope i can answer it correctly. For me Ownership is in our hearts. He owns me mind body and soul. He is the first Owner and the first real D/s relationship i've ever had. that to me is special in itself. Kind of like it use to be when it meant something that you were a virgin on your wedding night. He covets the fact thgat he's my first and i'm so glad i waited for the right Dominant to come along.  Everything is has done to me. i have never exerienced before and i have given him more of myself that i ever had anyone else.  So i think that makes the Ownership deeper as well for me.

It also means that i am looked out for, cared for and loved, he always knows what's best for me and what i can and cannot handle. Whatever you call it, his Ownership of me is about a love we have for each other that lives outside D/s as well as inside it.

TallDarkAndWitty -> RE: Ownership?? (1/9/2008 9:01:28 AM)

I am a very literal person.  Ownership is a term of art, and therefore has to have a specific meaning, or it becomes utterly meaningless.  For me, ownership must be specified in some sort of documented transfer.  (This also feeds into my paperwork fetish.)

So, I always have a contract signed before I consider a slave owned.

Agreeing to being owned. That's basically it.

Rover -> RE: Ownership?? (1/9/2008 9:04:00 AM)

Ownership of an object is pretty cut and dried.  You pay for it, you own it, and your receipt is an enforceable proof of that ownership.  But ownership of a person is not nearly so verifiable.  There is no receipt and it's not enforceable.

Consequently, I don't consider that I own someone until:

1.  I determine that I wish to own them.  This takes quite a bit of time to get to know someone well enough, as I do not wish to simply possess their body or service.  I want to know that what I will own pleases me in her intellect, her personality, her relationship with society and herself, etc. and that she is compatible with me, responds to me and my direction,  that we share a mutual objective for her and us, etc.

2.  They determine that she wishes for me to own her.  I presume that will also take a considerable period of time for the same reasons.

3.  I determine that her desire for ownership is genuine, deep and abiding.

4.  She feels as though she has worked hard to attain my ownership.  That which comes easily has no value.

That is, by necessity, an exceptionally brief and shallow explanation.

sweetsub1986 -> RE: Ownership?? (1/9/2008 9:46:43 AM)

For Gizzo and myself it was a knowledge that we wanted our relationship to be permenant and that we re both willing to do our respective parts to make it work. We do not have a written contract yet nor do I wear a collar etc. Both are things to come I'm sure

I have this too though perhaps not quite on the fetish level.

I take ample notes and have this crazy long negotiation forms I go through -- crazy is others' words, not mine.

I still go back every now and then to look at Fox's old forms and paperwork and our contract is in the file.
