It seems that in every presidential election year the sniping and bickering and derogatory comments start up by those vying for the country's highest office.  I was watching the face off after Iowa's results and  the things said by those running for office about the others.  For some reason their attitudes and behavior seem awfully "middle school" to me.

I feel totally discouraged that any of these people are capable of facilitating change in this country.

greetings sharainks,

i think those are healthy feelings, considering that none of them are actually capable of facilitating change for this country, as sad as it may be. at least we're not deluded, LOL.

(sorry, if i don't laugh, i'll cry.)

annabelle.

The sad thing is, the only real power a President has is to start or end war. Everything else is done via suggestions through their party in Congress. The Executive branch doesn't make laws, it makes policy. Not the same thing at all.

Take all the statements of "what I'll do once in office" as a smoke screen. Vote for the one who lines up with your own values and priorities... and hope for the best.

I like Hillary because I thought Bill did a good job, and those same values would serve us well again.

Obama is a great orator, and has some good ideas on domestic policy, but his foreign policy knowledge is minimal. Plus, he's only been in the senate for a single term. (and from his record, he's had his ass handed to him there plenty of times.)

Edwards? A good man, but lacking in the elbow grease department... besides, I've come to the conclusion that multi-millionares really don't represent me.

I'd actually prefer Richardson over Hillary... but I guess the rest of the US is still feeling too racist right now to elect a latino President.

The Republicans? Please...  we're being serious here...  They've lied to us, they've cheated us, they've played their little power games, and sold us down the river. They claim the moral high ground, they claim to be Christians, but time and again, their policies do NOT speak of "love thy neighbor" so much as "fuck the little guy, let's keep the money and power at the top where it belongs." They piss and moan about tax and spend Democrats... but we're 9 TRILLION in debt now folks... almost entirely due to the GOP being in office, starting with Reagan. Because they spend... and never plan on paying it back. They are like a drunken girlfriend on the loose with your credit cards, just before she plans to dump you.
