I think the frequent posters of long posts need a hobby or something.  Im rarely impressed by someone that can't manage to make a point quickly.

I prefer short posts.  If a post is lengthy I rarely read it in its entirety.  I prefer a hit/run style of posting and reading.

I love that!
A hit and run style of posting and reading!
Thats me, I have dsl and I can be logged on here all day.

I will peek in read for 10 minutes and then come back in an hour.
Hit and run, have some fun, lol.

LOL
Hummmmm, I know what you mean.
Especially if you need to write pages and pages trying to
make others "understand" you.
I also like people to get to the damn point, already.

I read a great deal of what is written. However, there are a lot of boneheads who frequent this site. How they have managed to even begin to be able to communicate throught this medium rather surprises me...So I even read the the shit from the damaged. It's enjoyable every now and then to shake your head in amazement and bewilderment.

Did I mention that I just recieved the most horrendous of mesages from some shithead off of this site?....What should I do? What should I do? I've never felt so angry.

Long posts are much more interesting, to me, than are the posts with only one or two lines. The short posts usually have nothing interesting to say so, i tend to skip over them.  But, then again, i am a sponge for learning and i don't have ADD.  The long posts usually give me much more indepth detail about what people are thinking and feeling and experiencing and that's what i find fascinating about this message board.

With long posts, though, i like it better when they are broken into several shorter paragraphs instead of one long one.  It makes it easier for me to read and also to refer back to when looking for a particular statement.

When you post your thoughts on a public forum, you have no control over who reads it or what they will think of it.  So, the purpose for posting shouldn't be to get the most readers or positive comments but, simply to say what you have to say, in however many words it takes to say it.  If people choose not to read it, oh well.  You have had your say.  Isn't that what free speach is all about and isn't that part of the beauty of a forum like this?

For me it depends entirely on the history of the poster, and how easy it is to scan their font.  I want what *I* write to be read, so I keep my own posts short.  If I can't think of something useful to say in just a couple paragraphs, I don't post on that thread.

Same here and I should add I have issues with occular migraines so neon, tiny or annoyingly difficult to read font I don't attempt to dechiper.

i enjoy posts about personal experience, no matter the length. However, paragraphs are important!
Otherwise, i look for a quick read~

I post as long as is needed to make a point, and that is usually dependant on if all my grey cells are firing well that night!...As far as reading long posts, it sometimes depends on how long the thread has extended, and who is doing the long post..on some I just do a basic quick read trying to pick up the salient points...Tempting

I love message boards period.
I think speed reading is your friend.

I think reading these posts, has given me new skills.
Usually you can tell after 2 sentences if you will continue reading the posts.

I do think, often I don't write enough to get my point across.
But then most are not on here to read posts that turn into short stories.

Making a point, and getting to the point quickly, is a real talent.

I would prefer a longer post that actually gives all the pertinent info, than a short one that is added to later.  The important details don't come out for 2 or 3 or 4 posts.
