Level -> Kucinich files complaint against ABC (1/4/2008 4:42:40 PM)

NEW YORK - Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich filed a complaint with the FCC on Friday after ABC News excluded him, fellow Democrat Mike Gravel and Republican Duncan Hunter from its prime-time debates on Saturday.

Kucinich argued that ABC is violating equal-time provisions by keeping him out of the debate and noted that ABC's parent Walt Disney Co. had contributed to campaigns involving the four Democrats who were invited.

"ABC should not be the first primary," the Ohio congressman said in papers filed at the Federal Communications Commission.

Good for DK, and more importantly, good for the political discourse in the United States

Yeah and FOX is excluding Ron Paul from their debate despite beating Rudy in Iowa.  But ol' Rudy is still invited, and the television news giants wonder why more and more people are turning away from them and towards the internet for news.

NASHUA, N.H.--An online protest is growing over presidential candidate Ron Paul's exclusion from a Fox News debate here on Sunday, even though other Republicans receiving fewer votes in Iowa or scoring lower in the polls were invited.

Paul received a fifth-place 10 percent of the GOP vote in Iowa's caucus Thursday, ahead of Rudy Giuliani, who received 3.5 percent. He's also ahead of Fred Thompson in New Hampshire polls, polling 7 percent to Thompson's 2 percent.

But both Giuliani and Thompson still appear to be invited to Sunday evening's debate sponsored by Fox News and the New Hampshire Republican Party. Paul isn't.

I just did a quick search and from the links I've found, it looks like Rudy is polling way ahead of Ron Paul, and I've even found one link that states that, despite his extremely low polling numbers "Paul has been invited to a GOP forum that Fox News is sponsoring in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Jan. 10th."

Thanks for the article Level.  Honestly, isn't that a bunch of bullshit?  The article even says that the debate is being co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Republican Party, who came out against excluding candidates.  But the assholes at FOX are bound and determined to keep him out of it.

Level -> RE: Kucinich files complaint against ABC (1/4/2008 6:23:06 PM)

I agree, it is bullshit, and I don't like Kucinich being kept out, either.  I'm not one to think the media is "evil", but they do overstep their bounds, sometimes.

Sanity -> RE: Kucinich files complaint against ABC (1/4/2008 6:37:20 PM)

They've got to draw the line somewhere though, else farglebargle would be up there arguing with realone

Say

Whatever happened to realone anyway

Back to the point though, I think FOX made the decision based on some older polls, and picked the top-tiered candidates out of having a practical need for a cutoff point somewhere

And as I pointed out earlier, Paul is invited to other forums, the space is just tight on that bus this time

It's no vast conspiracy in my opinion, just life

On the radio today on the Howie Carr Show WRKO-680 am, Howie said that Kuchinich's supporters where up in N.H. making crop circles in the snow.

real one and fb, on C-SPAN........ [:D]

I know there has to be a cutoff point, but there should be room made for serious candidates, IMO.

Sanity -> RE: Kucinich files complaint against ABC (1/4/2008 7:06:14 PM)

Having or not having Ron Paul on that bus wouldn't change my vote.
There are hundreds of debates, and I'm not watching any of them. I don't need to. I have the Internet!

How much does this one really matter? It won't make or break Ron Paul either way.
