Mistressofcuck -> People that claim to be Dominants and judge O/others (1/4/2008 1:59:12 PM)

I went into a chat room called sub for Dommes. It was My first time in chat. I was so disappointed! A so called Dominant female in there read My profile and proceeded to judge Me in open chat. I call her so called because I believe no matter what you seek in this lifestyle, its no ones business but Yours and the slave that has read the profile and knows what the circumstances are and wants that. I believe I do not have to explain Myself to a Dominant, when I am not seeking a Dominant! The sad thing is I enjoyed Myself before this happened. I just wanted to relax and be around O/others for a bit. Get to know some people. DQ made Me very welcome and I want to thank Her for that. I will not be returning to that room, and hope that no one else does either. Thanks!

Relax, so some twit showed his/her true colours. Ignore them and move on. This is the internet and you are going to find all kinds. If you allow someone to upset you, then who is actually dominating whom?

batshalom -> RE: People that claim to be Dominants and judge O/others (1/4/2008 2:29:54 PM)

Moc, just like anywhere else there will be bullies people around who are intent on bullying someone who happens to catch their attention. I'm sure the person who called you out looked like a complete ass. Be glad you aren't him / her and try again.

I wonder why you feel the need to explain yourself to anyone. It is only pixels.

You will find that the fora are far different from chatrooms. They move slower, and there are more contributors overall than you get in a chatroom. The discussions for the most part are egalitarian, submissive and dominants weigh in without much formal differentiation  based upon our roles that we have chosen in our given relationships. Many here are not seeking, but are here to contribute knowledge or gleen some. I think that is why you were warned by LaTigresse that the W/we thing was not well received here, because most here feel the only one that is due that deference is the one a submissive chooses to show that deference to...

Just my two cents, and I take paypal[:D]

EvilGenie -> RE: People that claim to be Dominants and judge O/others (1/4/2008 4:31:36 PM)

I am soooo disappointed! I thought that there were at least 18 kinds of shit for doing the W/we A/all thingy. My disappointment does however accept Visa, MasterCard (no pun intended), Discover Card (again, no pun intended), Visa Electron and PayPal.

Oh yeah, ignore the pixels and find the people. There are many sincere and genuine people behind the pixels, and well the rest? We can just bitch at right? [;)]

That would be exactly why I avoid most chatrooms.  Consider the source and move on.  We can't please the internet, we can only find those we cherish and hold them close and that isn't going to be the majority unfortunately.

Chatrooms are just another communication medium, why judge people based on how they choose to communicate? I’m sure the letter writers are getting their fountain pens and paper out to judge us freaks that use the ghastly ‘message board’.

Some people prefer chocolate to vanilla, and she prefers the fora to chatrooms because of certain characteristics that they tend to have...

I have enjoyed chatrooms at times, but I have noticed some of their shortcomings. One has to have a certain group of people together to make them entertaining... the same is true with a forum mind you, it just seems to me that forums tend to attract a different type of person.

How so different exactly and give some example perhaps?

It is my personal preference based upon many experiences.  Arguing about it won't change my personal preference.  Often times chatrooms become a platform for the one that created them to receive genuflection.  I have never gotten any sense of that from these forums in fact, I have not one clue who does own them.  I'm not suggesting you should have my personal preferences.

My experience with Yahoo political chat was that it tended to attract people that would flood it, make communication impractical. Also, it tended to attract people who were having more  sounndbyte types of conversations instead of more elaborate well thought out responses. One will find control freaks in any social situation, but the dynamics of real time conversations in a chatroom (especially the user created ones) tend to foster a sense of ownership one does not find on the fora here. We cannot control who posts responses to us, who decides to show up, and that means more often people that do not have to retain control are more likely to contribute here. Just my opinion of course

Agreed there are some self appointed gods floating about.

Have you really not seen the self appointed Gods of the forums? People are people and there tends to be all kinds of people floating about in all kinds of places. This has nothing to do with my preference or your preference, I’m just trying to understand things based on reputation and the actual facts. I see no reason there would be any more of one kind of person in either place? No one has shown me a logical reason as yet. An explanation of why one form of communication is seen as superior would be nice.

Flooding is automatically dealt with by bots in most Chatrooms. If not then the IRCxpro server will cut your connection if a flood is detected. I don’t know what measures are in place for yahoo as I was talking about the Chatrooms here which are IRC based. Sound bite type conversation is your opinion I suppose.

You can always find a room where the owners are hardly ever there, most upload bots to shell servers to keep rooms running. So you don't always have to compete with room owners.
