New Years eve; alcoholic lubrication with friends or family.

New Year's Day; Try to ignore the things going on in my head and stomach!!!!

Except this last New Year, I was on this site........

My two close girl friends and I (the three amigas) are traditionally together on New Year's Eve, and then I cook huevos rancheros for breakfast in the morning.

This year we merged our tradition with that of my brother, his wife and their friends.  Awesome people.  The three amigas drove to my brother's (a little over 2 hours) and spent a couple nights with them.  New Years Eve was a great party with with 9 of us eating, drinking, playing games, dancing, and laughing our heads off.  At the stroke of midnight we made so much noise the neighbors came over to see if we were ok :)

We all got to bed around 3 in the morning and had a lazy late morning rising.  And then I made huevos rancheros for the gang.

The three amigas decided to change our tradition to join my brother each year. No better way than to begin the new year with awesome people who love you :)

Happy New Year to everyone!

Do you have any rituals that you MUST do or have on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day!
... ... ...
You MUST eat black eyed peas on New Years Day in order to have good luck in the next year!

I always make a point, when the hour of midnight arrives, to stand in a doorway and pour out a libation to Janus. Usually champagne, but this year it was whiskey. As to black eyed peas, I will simpl say what I said to my grandmother many many moons ago: I'll make due with skill and cunning to get by. I'm not so desperate for luck that I'm willing to eat black eyed peas. While I have had a few runs of hard luck, I think I can honestly say I have not done poorly overall for my refusal. The bad times in my life have made room for new good, just as Janus intended.

the Damned Yankee (aka the hubby) maintains that black eyed peas cooking smells like dirt.  this year he wasnt home to smell them cooking.  ;)

the last 3 years i didnt make them in response to his bitching about it.....and its shown in how things have gone for us.  better things this year, please the gods.

I just ate a large bowl of black eyed peas, so I am ready for
a year full of luck and dreams coming true.

I sure wish I had some homemade cornbread!

Nothing brings in the New Year once you have polished off the Corn bread as a rousing game of Sally Hemings.

Hmmm...my mother comes from up North and she definitely says we need to have black eyed peas for good luck and prosperity on New Year's Day.  We had prime rib, black eyed peas, collared greens (first time I cooked these things), and jalapeno-cheese cornbread.

I have never known black eyed peas to smell like dirt but everything was good, especially the prime rib!

Hiya DJ, I am eating some now.
If they are seasoned right they are delicious, low in fat, high in protein.
Good luck and congratulations on your new submissive.
