Photography is a hobby for me as well.  When I find myself becoming overwhelmed by 'blah,' it is usually because I have drifted away from the people, places, and things that inspire me.  Since there is nothing new under the sun, I have no problem finding inspiration in other people's work---photography or otherwise.  Check out lithiumpicnic @ deviantart.com and just keep browsing from there.  Good luck.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Photo ideas? (12/28/2007 8:38:49 PM)

Thanks all.
We have already done the cannon and park stuff.  Problem is right now its too chily to take any really good outdoor shots. Fox is fine, but I get cold pretty easily.  We havent done anything themed, really. I havent been able to inspire myself to try much.  I was thiking bondage with christmas lights.  First try didnt come out as wel as Id hoped, but I have an idea or two for more than that. I might try some body scapes, assuming I can figure out how to focus properly with my digital. I have a 35mm slr on its way for the holidays but who knows when itll get here form Vegas.
I get Fox here for new years eve.  Maybe we can spend part of the day taking some pictures, in or outside...
I get to see Angel Sunday too, which mght help. I get to be in my Mommy mode with him for a while, what with the new apartment and lots of stress the poor boy needs some baby time.
Always something...

All the ideas are appreciated. I'll let everyone know when I have some new stuff up.
I am capable of pro-quality work. I have done it often, though my stupid ex destroyed all my older stuff. If anyone else in my general vecinity wants to come take pictures too, let me know! In the warmer weather, Fox and I found some great somewhat secluded  park areas to take some great pictures in, and I have no problem with pictures standing in front of a wall.  Its just that lately, being on night shifts and the short windter days I eel like I am not getting anything accomplished and my entire existance is get up, go to work, get home and sleep... repeat as necessary.

1) Locate some Usenet binary news groups that cover the type of photography you're interested in;

2) Go there everyday.

3) Download and store pictures that strike you as interesting.

I know zilch about photography, so I'm probably not much help.  I will say that the main photo on your fox/shawn's profile is a fantastic shot.  It came out beautifully.

Have you given any thought to a mix of bondage and ribbons?  Just going with the holiday theme.

Since laurel's getting her dancing shot, I'll throw in My personal plug for some hair pulling poses.

chellekitty -> RE: Photo ideas? (12/29/2007 10:08:40 AM)

personally, i don't really care about the setting as long as it is not too distracting...if you're taking pictures of a person, it's all about the person...i really like pictures where you tell them to think about something, and you can really see that thought on their face...lol...if only there were a way to get snapshots of people while reading the forums...

TieNTeas -> RE: Photo ideas? (12/29/2007 11:29:40 AM)

Here's one thing I like to do when I'm in a creative funk.  Grab your camera and head outside.  Take a walk around the block and stop every 10 feet or so and take a picture of something that catches your eye.  Or go to a park and do the same thing.

Another idea is to pick an object in your house and photograph it at various angles/compositions.  Take the object around the house and photograph it in different settings.

WetCanvas has a good forum for artists.  It's mainly traditional arts, but there is a good photo forum where you can post pictures, get critiques, etc.

My knowledge of photography is limited to the fact I know I want a digital SLR camera and currently saving up for one. And that no matter what I'll never take a photo of my wife that she likes so I don't bother trying ;)

Thanks for any ideas ahead of time.  I am really hoping to kick this mood, and I think this might help.

Still have the Christmas tree up?  If so, you can wrap him in Christmas paper, put him under the tree, and call the composition "The Gift of Submission".

The Museum of Sex in NYC has had some wonderful exhibits, and their website has a few interesting photos.  My favorite is "Cannibal Play".  You might enjoy photographing Fox in that pose.

TMaster2 -> RE: Photo ideas? (12/29/2007 6:55:41 PM)

I'm an amateur photographer, too, and sometimes I have the "shutter block" and just can't get anything going.  But I'll tell you what cured a lot of it for me, and that was getting a roll of seamless paper (off white) and a couple of lights.  After I set up a hanger (for the roll of paper) above my drafting table, I went wild with still shots!  Anything under the sun is fun to set up shots of, with the lights in different set ups, etc etc etc.  Pulling that seamless down over my table opens a virtual universe.  Not expensive, and easy to set up.  Go to a photog store and see about a roll.  Mine is about 5 ft. wide and is plenty for just about anything, from putting a model in front of to any stills I have thought of.

Perhaps you should ask around to see if anyone will allow a trade shoot or light test. At times I personally offer TFCD/TFP (trade for CD/ Trade for Prints) on occasion, I'm sure there at at least a few photographers that will work with you. If not look for college students who are majoring in Photo, just watch out for the creeps.
Hope this helps

I would suggest christmas lights on the submissive's body for christmas. Then dress the sub in a gopher outfit for groundhog day. Dress a subbie as the easter bunny. And so on.

Christmas is a great theme anyway. Just make your own kinky XMas card for your Kinky friends. As an example and belated Seasonal greetings, you can find ours here (not work safe):  http://www.touwtjes.tk/kerstkaart.html

eevin, i am sure you know this already, but depending on your camera, digital or manual, if a good brand you should be able to find a timer accessory which will give you much more than 10 seconds:)
