Hi all. Due to a recent convo I had, I'm curious about nipple piercings. I used to have my navel pierced but it didn't heal right and I have long since taken it out. And when I got it, the damn thing hurt like a SOB. I do miss having it though, and I still have all of my navel jewelry. So my question is this:

Any of you have nipple piercings? What did it feel like when you got it? How long did it take to heal? Any issues you had/are having with it?

People with other piercings can post too,; I'm kinda curious about them all. Just trying to decide if I want to go through it again.

Yes, I have nipple piercings. I put them in myself as I just don't trust other people with something as personal as piercings. I read everything I could about them, pros and cons, bought the proper piercing supplies and jewelry and did it. Yes, it took them months to heal and yes, it seems like I have lost some sensitivity in them. However, I enjoy them, and consider them quite beautiful. I consider them my badges of honor after breastfeeding all my children.

My advice--read everything you can and ask for plenty of references before letting a piercer touch you. Make sure your jewelry is top quality and be patient with your body's healing. Clean hands, top notch nutrition and above all say no to people fascinated by your new toys until they heal.

Be well and blessings,

I'm a diabetic and talked to my doctor before getting outer labia piercings.  He said it was fine to do so as long as I monitored my blood sugar levels extra carefully since I don't really have problems with healing.

I got my done around Oct, just because I had a friend that wanted hers done and she has a needle phobia. I tolerate pain well so went before her to show her heh its not so bad really. Okay I did mess with her head cuz yeah it did hurt but I didnt change expression. It hurt and was very tender for abut a month, then every so often, hormonal days if your breasts get tender you know their there  at first. Taking care of them is a peice of cake, clean with a sea salt solution  with a c-ue tip as it cuts through any secretions that may build up. There  was no blood with the peircing itself. I would also say that it alot more confortable at first when you do have them bound in a bra and flip to ball side up around the nipple instead of letting it hang.

Im a stay at home person and dont usually bother with a bra and definetly felt a difference. If your short like me (which I doubt 4'9 1/2") watch for cabinets LOL Mine here in this house are the same height of where my nipples are and kept getting a rub a dub dub while cleaning up after dinner. Not complaining tho now they have healed.
Its the end of Dec now and there is no pain they are healing nicely, the piercer said that secretions could continue for a long time as when going through the nipple you are gonna catch some of the milk glands. She said expecially if you had breastfed in the past. I did 3 kids and even in my 40 before the piercing could get some secretion out of my nipples.

I enjoy them, they look nice, would like to get something prettier than the original ones at some later date.

I had my tongue done on my 40th birthday at my daughters pleas so I took her up on it. Now that was alot more uncomfortable, but got through and and tho I rarely have a barbell in now the hole is still there and can still put it in when I want to.

I guess I'm mostly scared of the healing part (though pain ain't my thang). My navel was so painful even months afterward, I had to be extra careful with what I wore and couldn't stand ANYTHING touching it. But, after doing some research I'm learning that I was give bad after care instructions from that shop. I was using alcohol to clean it, twisting it regularly, using ointment, etc..... Anyone with piercings see the red flags here? So, I'm learning what I did wrong, but I'm still scared.

when i had tink, there woz a lady in the next bed who woz told she couldn't brest feed, coz she had had her nipples pierced, and when i asked about it, the nurse said sometimes they do get damaged...

i wozn't allowed to breastfeed tink, but i really want to when i have Masters babies, so He has said i don't have to get mine pierced.

i got my belly button pierced tho, twice. and when i got it done, i just kept it clean and washed it with warm salty water, and luckilly everything woz ok. i had my belly bars for about 5 years now, and i don't even know there there mostly now.

my 1st Master woz gonna pierce my labia Himself, but i freaked out when He got all His stuff together to do it. i guess i just wozn't ready for it back then, but i think if my Master now wanted to, i would.

I've got my tongue done.  More or less, that felt like biting your tongue super hard all the way through.  After that, there was tenderness when I talked, or ate spicy/salty foods.  Oh yea...And I had a Cindy Brady lisp for 2-3 weeks.

Nipples hurt like hell.  The only thing I really remember feeling is being stabbed, and then it felt like both nipples were being pulled or bitten hard and on fire.

Lip ring, wasnt as bad as I made it out to be.  My lip was swollen for a few weeks, and I had to drink from straws until it healed.  (still do occasionally)  Pain when the needle went through, and a few hours after that.

Ooof what kind of piercing place did you go to!?  I just used salt water and mine were fine (except being clever me I occaisionally get the caught on doors/ catch the towel on them and then ouch!)  Mine both healed within a couple of months, although certain times of the month they still hurt (or if they get caught on stuff)  I'm a piercing addict and was really worried when I got told they wouldn't be frozen first, but it seriously wasn't bad, it's the clamping which hurt for me more!

If you are going to get them done, rings are far easier to clean, bioplast jewellery is much comfier (although not all places will put then in, you can always change them after a few weeks or so) and I would always say get them done on different occaisions, the second piercing ALWAYS hurts more if you get two at the same time!  Also obviously keep them clean with salt water at least twice a day and wear a bra to sleep in for the first week or so:)

Hope this helps at all!

Oh and mine are much more sensitive now, in a good way, I love them to bits (...and the glow in the dark bars I use keep me amused:D)

I have heard that naval piercings take longer than most to heal but you didn't mention what kind of metal was used. This can be very important. In my case I had one nipple done and had a titanium ring put in. It's supposed to be very tolerated by most but mine wouldn't heal. Once I switched to surgical steel it healed just fine.

Honestly it hurt worse that I thought it would but others have said it wasn't so bad. I'm also diabetic which seems to have had no bearing on healing.

i've had my nipples pierced twice, they hurt like a red hot poker being pushed slowly through both times and did not ever heal properly....that being said, i may be not the norm, because i have DD cup breasts and they are extremely dense...like they stand up when i lay down....both times they migrated, they were done pretty far back each time to take into account the size of my breasts so i have 1/4" to almost 1/2" scars on each side of both my nipples....so, umm yep, thats my horror story....they tell me it might have healed better if it had been done with barbells - was done with rings both times....and they never stopped hurting....

good luck with yours though....

had my tongue done in '92. the swelling was a pain, piercing was unpleasant but not unbearable, healing, after the first 5-7 days was pretty good.

had my hood done the year after; sharp, shortlived pain, healed almost quicker than i could pull my nix up. never had any probs.

had my navel done the same year - awful, wouldn't heal properly, despite keeping it clean as poss. eventually got ripped out by a friend throwing me into a fountain.

had my nipples done this summer just gone; eye-wateringly painful at the time and eek-uncomfortable for some time afterwards. still not fully healed (think that may be due to being anaemic and generally a bit low health-wise)  and the left one is making a break for freedom. time of the month makes them a bit weepy.

I'd second the fact that you need to be up on your own health, eating and sleeping well before you go for any piercings.

Enjoy!  :)

OUCH! I've heared of piercings migrating before, it's one of the things that worry me. I read that barbells tend to heal faster too. damn, I better do some more research in migrating.

I am anemic as well. For some reason I never thought to question if that had an impact; thanks for bringing that up and sharing!
