Status: offline 		Only Bush could announce (at a press conference to address the assassination of Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto) “those who committed this crime must be brought to justice” about a killer who then blew himself up.

But then (since the last National Republican Convention stressed “a vote for Bush is a vote for God!) he probably just picked up the bat phone, talked to the Big Guy and told him what to do (just like he has on a host of other “moral” issues, like blocking life-saving cell stem research). Only Bush. It’s his mandate.

In the 2000 campaign, a 60 minutes reporter asked Bush if he could name the Prime Minister of Pakistan. “No,” he answered with obvious disdain. “Can you?” He could. Most educated people could-- Pervez Musharraf, the military leader who took over the country. Musharraf, the all important ally in the “War on Terror” supposedly against Osama bin Laden, but which quickly spiraled into an ill-justified quagmire in Iraq. Only Bush.

And Musharraf, along with Putin, leaders able to seize and hold power in ways that exceed Bush’s Supreme Court grab in 2000. Undoubtedly his heroes. They, however, didn’t have to face the U.S. Constitution and the balance of powers. Poor only Bush—yet he can condemn oppressive regimes in the same breath that he embraces them when it serves his purpose.

But as he has ably demonstrated, the Constitution and balance of powers can be corrupted and undermined. I only hope that we actually have a democratic election in 2008, not a “declaration of national emergency” to leave Bush in power.

We can’t continue with only Bush. I hope his regime doesn’t force us to beyond Jan. 2009.

There is never only one person involved in these actions. There is the naive fool that blows himself up, the father figure that convinced him to do it and the people that fund and supply the materials and training needed to carry out such an act. Maybe it was these people Mr Bush was speaking of?

That's certainly true, of course. I was thinking more of the string of silly pronouncements from President Cowboy--Osama bin Laden Dead or Alive, We're gonna hunt them from their holes--not to mention the Mission Accomplished shananagins now years ago, lives ago, billions of dollars ago, nothing but a bitter reminant of Rumsfeld's fantasy and Cheney's synicism.

I just pray that the next president, assuming our system can survive the assaults this administration has made and liikely will continue to make on the Constitution long enough to have a next president and not a "state of emergency," whether Republican or Democrat, black or white, male or female, Protestant or Morman, governor or senator, whatever, will have the strength, common sense, intelligence, moral fiber and foresight to return the U.S. to a rational path and begin to mop up the decades long mess this administration has foised upon us.

When even your own party abandons you in droves, maybe it's time to consider that maybe, just maybe, you're doing something wrong....

While we're on the topic, here's a little rant for you.  Why is it that people are all for the war in the beginning, but now when the going gets tough, the country gets scared?  In my eyes it was something that needed to be done, but needed more planning to do it.  So he screwed up the planning, he's still a better president than Kerry would have made!

People are so quick to put down anyone in the public's eye, to slander him and to make him look as vile as they can.  Because of that everyone hates Bush, because god forbid he tries to take reactionary and preventitive action.

Oh, and know that president everyone loves?  Bill Clinton?  That administration has more fellony charges than the watergate scandle, yet everyone LOVES him.  I just don't get it.  Every day something reminds me of how America always has only TWO choices in who's going to run the country, and every election both of them aren't qualified for the job.  I want just one damn president that will tell the truth!

Well, I DID blog and post against the war before the fact, and if it helps, I'll forward you the pieces. And yup, it earned me a huge helping of "you unpatriotic bastard" for my views.

Clintion did, at least, prove that we could have a long period of peacetime expansion and economic prosperity. At my most cynical, I wonder if that's the problem--you can't jerk around happy people as well as scaring people, warning them it's the X People or the Y People we need to pull together to stop in order to get citizens to suspend criticism and just do whatever you want them to do.

Status: offline 		Not necessarily.  And note, I don't consider you any less patriotic for not supporting the war, we just have different views.  In fact, I believe that we need to have more protests and proactive means of conveying dissaprovals like we used to back in the 70's and early 80's.  At least you didn't change your mind, which is my number one pet peeve.

As for Clinton, his 'economic growth' was found on the up-swing of the regular economic cycle, though I do credit him with acting as a catalyst for it I don't credit him with the entirety of it.  Also, he cut foreign policy from what I remember, and also cut other military and policy spending in order to take his little trips.  I just don't like the man, does it show?  I'd love to have another Roosevelt (who Bush is ironically related to) or Eisenhower (sp?).  If only I was alive in that time...

God I hate being 20 though, noone listens to you that is of any importance...

Status: offline 		Oh no no, that was a rant, I'm sorry.  Bush -does- have problems but noone is perfect.  Since Clinton is the last president I used him, since that's who I, as young as I am, can relate to.

Now, with Bush what I -don't- like about him is how he's very 'shoot first ask questions later,' which lead to the problems we're having now in Iraq.  Very irresponsible for a president, though he's not the first.

Status: offline 		luna may be showing some of her political ignorance here but she still is of the opinion that impeaching a president for getting a blow job is stupid and not impeaching a president for killing our boys in a civil war we don't belong in, not to mention the crimes against the constitution, just plain doesn't make any sense.  personally - at least the president who got a blow job got results from his efforts! 

Jester:  Luna agrees with you about protests.  but in a time when you can be arrested as a terrorist for speaking out against the war or Bush (see executive orders from the last few years)  most of the folk that would protest are too damn scared of ending up in the Waterboarding Club as paid members

and now a question.  musharef just laid out a map for how to take a country right before elections and get away with it.  whats to stop Bush and Family from doing the same thing???

I skipped ahead to this.  Know what I hate?  Close-minded people that don't look into facts.  The whole 'Bush cut health care' is crap, wanna know why?  They set the low end to recieve these benefits at 80,000 a year for a four person family.  Know what poverty level is?  Less than half that.  I am NOT paying health care benefits to people who can already afford it.  I'm glad he shot it down.  Come back to him with a sane number.

There's an interesting book out that explains how Iraq had two parts of a WMD; the explosive and the transportation.  In Serbia, after the inspections and the war, they had the detonator.  During the war they have satelite pictures that cought a serbian convoy entering Iraq, then leaving with the refugees.  Wanna guess what was on it?

Who was blaming Clinton?  I just plain don't like the guy.  Yea, he messed up when he could have gotten Laden, failed to react to numerous terrorist attacks, etc., but what's to blame?

I'd like to state that this was a headache to read.  First of all the gramar horrible.  Second, if you're going to call something a scandal, make sure it's a scandal instead of a fuck up.  There's a difference.

fuck up
  • To make a mistake; bungle something.
  • To act carelessly, foolishly, or incorrectly.
  • To cause to be intoxicated.

  • scandal 
  • A publicized incident that brings about disgrace or offends the moral sensibilities of society: a drug scandal that forced the mayor's resignation.
  • A person, thing, or circumstance that causes or ought to cause disgrace or outrage: a politician whose dishonesty is a scandal; considered the housing shortage a scandal.
  • Damage to reputation or character caused by public disclosure of immoral or grossly improper behavior; disgrace.
  • Talk that is damaging to one's character; malicious gossip.


  • And finally, you look to be of sound mind and body, in your mid fourties I'd say?  Act like it.  Instead of jumping to conclusions and just writing some things down in an outrage.  Oh, and the sarcasm that was a direct attack to me?  Know that it lasted no longer than it took for me to read it.
