My divorce....1997.  (Gift)

(Arrived in March '98...but I wasn't terribly upset about it).

I can think of two that stand out in my mind.

1. ATea set when I was around four or five years old

2. A calendar from a friend.  A simple gift, but I was so touched as it was the thought that went into the gift that made it one of my all time favorite gift receiving memories.

Now if someone wanted to give me some new all time favorite memories, I'm not opposed to extravegances, say a Hummer (driver included), and or a water front or beachside home.

This year. Participation in the Good Neighbors Program.  Bought a needy family an entire Christmas.  Annonymously of course.
From clothing to toys and then some.

One year the office I worked in sponsored one of the person's on the Salvation Army Christmas trees at the mall.  There were 3 trees, 1 for unmentionable males 1 for unmentionable females and 1 for poor adults.  We sponsored an adult and purchased warm winter clothing; long coat, gloves, hat and a scarf for her.

Congrats, giving of yourself is the best gift anyone can recieve.  I'm sure those people still remember the wonderful soul today.
I think as we age and mature we realize giving is better than receiving.

Best gift I ever got was twenty years ago from my aunt - a nail care set which I still have and use to this day, though I recently had to replace the scissors. An odd gift for who I was back then, but maybe my aunt saw more even than I!

Best gift I ever gave was with my first Christmas salary; a set of cooking scales for my grandma, totally over the top but something that I knew she'd love and use - as something of a token of appreciation for all she did and was for me.

Received: 'wasn't much money around where I was brought up, and it's a sport mad place, so anything from dart board and darts, to a ticket for the football on Boxing Day, boxing gloves, snooker cue etc.

Bought: two tickets to Prague - 'always wanted to go, so killed two birds with one stone.
