Level -> Paul to keep donation from white supremacist (12/19/2007 5:54:33 PM)

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has received a $500 campaign donation from a white supremacist, and the Texas congressman doesn't plan to return it, an aide said Wednesday.

Don Black, of West Palm Beach, recently made the donation, according to campaign filings. He runs a Web site called Stormfront with the motto, "White Pride World Wide." The site welcomes postings to the "Stormfront White Nationalist Community."

"Dr. Paul stands for freedom, peace, prosperity and inalienable rights. If someone with small ideologies happens to contribute money to Ron, thinking he can influence Ron in any way, he's wasted his money," Paul spokesman Jesse Benton said. "Ron is going to take the money and try to spread the message of freedom."

I couldn't care less if he returned it (but for principal, he should...just for the papers)...but in a way (I'm stretching...I know) it almost works to his benefit (not that the rest of the nation will be this thoughful on the subject)...

No one believes he's a white supremiscist.

So...in a way...he can easily argue...."I'm for everyone....even assholes".

(Ehhh....that probably won't sell).

Ron Paul has been ignored and bad-mouthed by the media for so long that he could care less.
It looks pretty certain he will raise more money this quarter than ANY other Republican  (yes, more than Guliani) and more than any Democrat except Obama and CLinton. So far it's $18.3 million since October 1.

He hardly needs the $500.

That is the way it should be.

A person in political office should be for everybody, and should cast their votes for the majority.

If some mental midget wants to pontificate Nazi drive, I figure more power to them.

Who cares? Really, I'm sure many people with lots of differnt crazy idololigies donate to many various campains. Think any racist African Americans have donated to Obama? If 500 dollars from a crazy man goes to the cause of liberty than good.

Stephann -> RE: Paul to keep donation from white supremacist (12/19/2007 8:17:31 PM)

If a white supremacist was donating to my campaign, I'd keep it.

Then I'd donate half to a black youth program.

Paul should do whatever the hell he wants with it.

Yanno......a long, successful marriage, seventeen grand children, a medical doctor {as opposed to an Attorney or CEO} five terms in congress as a non-war-mongering, traditional conservative---and they just can't find any hidden closets with skeletons in them yet. But they'll keep trying.

My guess is that they won't find any skeletons either. So let 'em keep trying. It'll keep them occupied and focused away from more productive endeavors.

Nicely put.

Termyn8or -> RE: Paul to keep donation from white supremacist (12/19/2007 10:29:11 PM)

I am going to have to research this donater.

He is called a White supremacist, but they paint anyone who is white with any racial pride with a wide brush. That was a very good rebuttal, and to me proves that Paul can think on his feet. But I do not take things at face value.

A true White supremacist might believe that he is better than others simply because he is white. Well time told and now we have as many white skinned crackheads and shit as any other race. White pride is pride by association. It is not what your ancestors did that makes you better it is what YOU do.

A person like me with that pride, and a recognition of what legacy I am to leave, could be called a racist. But I cannot be called a bigot. Well I guess someone could call me a bigot, can't really stop them, but it would be false. I would encourage people of all races to have pride. Study yourself, your ancestors, your roots, get to know yourself better.

Know your traits better, learn how it shapes your taste, your diet, your prefernce in Women, all that. If you are white be proud, but that is only pride by association. Yes "we" put a Man on the moon, invented the transistor, all that shit, but what did YOU do ?

And indeed what did I do ? Those people who achieved in the past weren't thinking about what we are. They were simply doing their best. They were dedicated and persistent as to their goals. This is a noteworthy characteristic, I would think. But for me to think that I am better, entitled to priveledge because of what they did is just plain wrong. If I take that White Pride too seriously it takes away from those who really have achieved.

It is what I do, the legacy I leave in the wake of my life that defines my value to the human race, not what those before me have done.

And that was their attitude, not to ride on the coattails of those who came before them. There have been many firsts, and that is why I sometimes dismiss conventional science. Sometime I just say "I don't buy it". Most of you have probably read that in posts that I have written previously.

If you want to be big, break the mold, crack the code, just trudging along into mediocrity simply does not cut it for me. If this donater is the same way, great, but the knuckle dragging type is another story. Problem is at this point I simply do not know.

I am glad he kept the money in either case. His response was good, but it could have been better. I wouldn't have used the words "spreading evil". There are many other choices, and then the fact tht if he is indeed elected, he is supposed to represent all the People, even those who voted against him.

But that is the subject for a whole nother thread. Yes, your constituents include those who did not vote, or voted against you. That is not bullshit. Why else would it be a secret ballot system ?

So keep the money, and as someone said, donate some of it to a Black program. This is no more than saying "Honey, I used the money we put in the bank for the gas bill to pay the phone bill, now we need $45 for the gas bill, but the phone bill is paid". Get the drift ? If the money came with no strings attached, great. If there are any encumberances, then return it. You do what you want.

If I were Ron Paul I would MAKE IT A POINT to invest it something for Blacks. I mean I would make it a big thing, but then I am willing to play the PR game, perhaps Paul is not.

I would actually have to respect that if it is the case.

MadamI -> RE: Paul to keep donation from white supremacist (12/19/2007 10:33:05 PM)

I don't see a difference between 'racial pride' and racism. Proud of your family, proud of your community, proud of your culture, sure. Proud of your race? plain stupid.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Paul to keep donation from white supremacist (12/19/2007 10:39:15 PM)

If you say you're proud of your race, I have to wonder if you know what you're talking about.  The "white" race doesn't exist.  We are caucasians, which includes a whole array of people.  Most of the Caucasian race is made up of people that so called white supremacists despise.  Slavs, Jews, Arabs, Persians, and East Indians (which includes Roma or Gypsies) are all Caucasian.  There is no such thing as pure blood.  At some point in time one of your ancestors mated with a member of a different race or ethnicity.

Termyn8or -> RE: Paul to keep donation from white supremacist (12/19/2007 10:43:49 PM)

MadamI, I think we are getting into the splitting hair mode. It is a matter of definition. The real problem is that is seems we can't be proud and yet show respect for others. I do not accept that.

Lucky, I don't want my info to come from stormfront, or infowars or any place like that. Not to worry, it will come out. And it will be mainstream and easily verifiable. Give it a few days.

More later.

Stephann -> RE: Paul to keep donation from white supremacist (12/19/2007 11:18:08 PM)

T,

I'd say a former Grand Wizard of the KKK is a pretty good qualification of someone who is worthy of the title 'bigot' and 'hate monger.'  Stormfront is his baby; I'd say it's a great example of what he stands for; his house, his rules.

http://www.adl.org/poisoning_web/black.asp

I'm all for people being proud of who they are, and where they come from, regardless of race.  My issue derives from people of any race declaring any form of superiority based on that race.

Stephan
