Status: offline 		"Dan left us this morning at 6 a.m. He fought a brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side," read a statement posted on the singer's Website. "His strength, dignity and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him."

Status: offline 		Saw him in a small club in the mid-70's when he had the burned out hippie look & he was great. Saw him in the late 80's in a larger venue when he had the surfer-dude look & he was great. "Souvineers" is one of my desert island discs. Thanks for everything Dan, rest in peace.

That's a good song.. a bit melancholy for christmas, imo, but still good. "Leader of the Band".. another great song, also very sad.

He was a great writer and singer......damn....what a bummer!

and he sang from the heart.  one of the best concerts i've been to.
