Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien plan a Jan. 2 return with fresh episodes, ending two months of reruns brought on by the writers' strike, the network said Monday. But until the strike is settled, the hosts will be on their own.

While late night TV will forge ahead without joke writers, they won't be far from anyone's mind.

"I will make clear, on the program, my support for the writers and I'll do the best version of `Late Night' I can under the circumstances," O'Brien said in a written statement. "Of course, my show will not be as good. In fact, in moments it may very well be terrible."

I know nothing about the details of the writers' strike but I hope they get every penny they think they deserve.
Fuck the network executives and fuck the so called personalities who need a writer to make them look good.
Apart from them a happy Xmas to the rest of you. I even include PC liberals in that in the hope that next year they just "shurrup"

Mind you having said that I have watched Letterman where he lists 10 top this that or the other. If that is scripted then fuck those who wrote it also.

I find it disturbing to think that people actually get paid to write Leno's monologues. I haven't watched it in at least 6 years... did he ever stop recycling Lewinsky jokes?

I don't know, I go to be before the late night shows come on, usually. But I've always been a bigger fan of Letterman.


Letterman gives better interviews in my opinion.  There are examples of the contrary, the last time I was forced to watch him interview Harrison Ford I kept waiting for him to beg to suck him off.

Letterman just is not funny.

I heard (don't know if it's valid) that these fuckers make (on average...let the flames flow) 200K a year (plus residuals).

There's always a bunch of guys who make $hit...and a few that make mega.

What up?

They ain't exactly writing the Great American fucking Novel.

Two Men and a Fucking whatever the fuck it is....give me a fucking break.

Yeah, I'm thinking the 200 grand is about what I heard, too. Are they worth it? That's the que$tion.......

I had always heard that most writers don't make much money. It's probably the same situation as acting. A few get rich, but most don't.

     I'd scab with no problems at all.   Sinergy's union could put up a scary picket line, but comedy writers??  I could cross that on a unicycle.

How is it being 'scab'...if they go on and write their own jokes?  It's not like they're taking the jokes their writers wrote and just not paying them.....they're going on WITHOUT the writters writing jokes.
 
Unless I've got something backwards...how does that make them 'crossing a picket line'  ???
