I’d had an interest in it since my early 20’s. I remember reading The Story of O, then Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty trilogy, and eventually SM101. I knew what I wanted, but never seemed to have a partner who wanted to explore with me. Oh, there were the occasional isolated “incidents” over the years: a little candle wax one night here, a few spanks on the ass there, some who would accept my rougher approach during sex, but still no one who wanted to take it further. SM 101 has always been in plain view on my bookshelves, but not one person ever picked up on it.

It was not until earlier this year that I found someone who also held long unfulfilled desires. We actually started out in a vanilla relationship. Then one night, she whispered those magic words to me “Tie me up”. We took off with it, and it was everything I had hoped for and dreamed about with her.

I jumped in with both feet and haven’t looked back. I hit the internet looking for information, books, and groups. SM 101 has been joined by quite a few other titles on my shelves. I found a local group that I click with, and attend their munches and events. There are one or two others that I am looking into now.

Although the relationship just ended (for mundane bullshit reasons, nothing to do with our BDSM play), I’ve decided that I will never again deny myself this. Its part of who I am; its what I want. My experiences with her confirmed this. And life goes on…..

I always loved tie-up games when I was little, like cops and robbers, and so bondage was always a big thing in my life, way before I knew what it was or why I liked it so much. I think I was about 12 or so when I realised it was actually a sexual thing for me. I'd seen bondage scenes on TV in movies... not sexual bondage, but kidnapping and such, and always loved it. I can't remember exactly where I found out that Bondage and BDSM were actual established kinks... I think it was either from watching late-night TV when the folks were asleep, or the internet, but I was about 13 at that time.

After that I just read as much as I could, did some searching on the internet and in libraries, spoke to older friends, and watched documentaries. I got actively involved in the scene and started playing for real at the age of 18 or 19. I'm currently 21 (just a month shy of 22) and I feel I've learnt a lot, and I'm really glad I discovered myself, and the lifestyle, at such a young age.

When I was about 7, we played Cowboys and Indians with our horses (ranch country out west). I was always an Indian. I loved to ride up and capture a "lady" and pull her over my horse. I'd ride off with her and tie her up. I'd kiss her by grabbing her hair. Damn, I loved that game.
When I was 12 I lost my virginity to an older girl (she was 14, almost 15). After an intense round, she was laying on my back and I was rubbing her back. Her ass attracted me (still does) and I was rubbing it. Something made me give her a  slap. She moaned, when I thought she'd scream. I spanked her, the sex ... wow. I was forever lost.

Could Y/you please tell me how Y/you discovered and entered the Lifestyle ?

i'd heard about kinky things years ago but didn't believe they were real. i had a personal ad on a vanilla site and someone was nice enough to refer me to CM.  Needless to say i was amazed. It's real, people do these things. And off and running i was. As has been said, the internet and play parties have been a blessing and a curse because i've had to unlearn many things i assumed and heard.

i never remember entering i just rememner being 'in' and it was during babyhood/childhood, i have written about it publicly/published and yet have been told even on collarme that it makes others feel icky.
To those who meet and know me real time i will talk at length, if they ask and if they are interested.
Mostly people who are discovering power dynamics convoluted with their sexuality later in life, because they were supressing it, or repressing it, or denying it, or closetting it, are fascinated by those who they perceive are further 'in' the lifestyle. Or those who are 'out'. In or our it's a journey that some remember consciously entering but it is path i shall never leave.
Ed. to add  ....just feeling defensive......about the chained door, the darkness and the privation....

I discovered, by accident, I liked to control someone obviously enjoyed being controlled, then started reading and talking on sites like this.

I have a rather odd story about how I discovered the lifestyle.

For years I'd been interested in BDSM but I thought it was all in books only and not practiced in the real world (though I wished it was!) So I went out and read every book I could find with this subject/theme. The good, the bad, and all in between.

In college I started playing an online game called City of Heroes. The game was new at the time and all the roleplayers pretty much gathered in one place on one server. Being an rper myself, I spent most of my time in that park area for rping (of the innocent, persona-play type). One day I came across another rper with a name that struck me as somewhat familiar. It didn't click until he started referencing cities of Gor, at which point I ran off and made a healing/buffing character named "the kajira" and then wandered into the area. After a brief (and very PG as this was a public area) rp, we started talking in private. I expected a conversation about how he enjoyed the books too, but he started talking instead about his girls and the way he lived. I was floored. At first I thought he and his girls were an abnormality, but then he directed me to this website. I started reading about all the different ways people lived and eventually banged out a clumsy and embarassingly naive profile.

From this site I found out about munches, and after mentioning that I'd be going to a local munch a couple from this site decided to find me there. Six months later I'd moved in with them and I've been happy ever since.
