Okay, how do you like listening to music? Any particular stations you like?

I like the radio simply because I get traffic reports and witty commentary too. If I'm somewhere that I can't get a station I like (I listen to country REALLY I do but, too much has me feeling a little ragged around the edges; same with Latin) then I pop in a CD. I kept a radio at work with me, but I used the net too if my radio was static-y. And I still listen to cassettes!

The best way for me to listen to music is the same way as it was 30 years ago... the ol' turntable and vinyl LPs. That's if I want to really listen to music. Yes, I have CDs and digital downloads, but due to the ill-conceived notion that "louder is better," the volume wars have turned me off of the digital stuff and sent me back in pursuit of vinyl from the early 80s and older.

If I need background musical entertainment, I usually crank up an iTunes playlist or online radio stream piped through my 70s analog hi-fi. Or my iPod connected in the same way. Rarely do I listen to commercial radio anymore, since every station in my market is owned either by Clear Channel or Infinity Broadcasting; both of which have 40 minutes of ads, 15 minutes of idle chat, and 5 minutes of music per hour.

I selected the "luddite" option, though I would hardly identify with that. But, it was the closest answer to my preferences. ;-)

Last year, amoung my clients, two of the most popular add ons to entertainment systems on boats (I am a marine electronics rigger) where either MP3 players (or provisions for 'docking' one) or Sat Radio.

Interestingly, very few wanted both. I think some people (like myself) have particualr tastes in music, and Radio, of any sort, just doesn't meet their needs. I can also say that last year, XM beat Sirius (amoung new installations for my clients), but the previous year it was mostly Sirius

I'd need an "all of the above" option. Regular radio in the kitchen and cars, a sampling of Sirius music stations with the satellite tv, online in the office, and a big old Kenwood powered two channel monstrosity (when I die, the speakers could be reworked into a coffin) that is going to make my new neighbors hate my guts at dawn on the 4th of July.

I always listened to regular radio while in my car, and had my few favorite stations that I'd skip around to when commercials came on. I like intelligent witty dj's, shock jocks not so much. I really loved the Bob and Tom show in the mornings.

However, since I recently relocated to northern Virginia, and the radio here {{{SUCKS}}} big time, I'm going satellite. Here, music is just a little bit of entertainment between 15-minute blocks of commercials. I timed them. And no station I can pick up carried Bob and Tom.

Therefore, there is a Sirius satellite radio in my future. If I don't get one for Christmas as a gift, I'll be buying one the day after.

Also, I love love love my mp3 player. All 500 of my all-time favorite songs with me all the time in something the size of a matchbox.

well, considering that no stations around here play metal...

I really dispise commercial radio. All these DJs are payed by labels to play the songs, and the FCC really doesnt allow the music I likie.

I really like my XM radio...I did debate XM vs Sirius for a long time, but XM seemed more suited towards my tastes, esp not being a Howard Stern fan.

next to that, it's the ipod.

It depends on where I'm going and what mood I"m in. In the mornings would be great for sat. also on long trips to just hear the music. Every once in a blue moon I want to hear regular radio. Just got this new car and will be installing XM soon. XM because they say that it has more music channels than Sirrus. I have a CD player but never use it, on long trips I use my IPod.

Funny Austin is supposed to be the live music capital of the world and they don't have very good radio stations...and not a single jazz one like when I lived in Dallas.

I love all kinds of music, but my fav is metal, and there are no metal stations here either, so I have to listen out of San Antonio, which is fine as long as I stay in the southern part of the city, which is where I live and work, but if I go north ye ole static starts.

I guess my answer would pretty much have to be all of the above...as long as it's metal I don't much care what the source is....LOL

Well I would gave to say that most of my music listening would be on my Denon and Infinity sound system at home. DVD Audio and SACDs as well as LPs, you can't beat it.
I subscribe to Sirius primarily for Howard Stern, but I also listen to Little Stevens Underground Garage, which is the best rock station ever! XM has a station called Deep Tracks which plays great obscure rock stuff, much of which I have never heard.
I also listen to the blues channel and some of the country channels.
Having Dish Network, I also can listen to Sirius music Channels over my Stereo system. And Sirius online as well.
If I listen to music in my car, it will usually be cds.

Thank you, lovely lady . Rock is trying to make a comeback, radio-wise, so hopefully the station situation over there will improve. But yeah, it is surprising that Austin is slacking a bit!

I'm not a radio listener (too many damn commercials on there to start with) and I surely ain't payin' to listen to satellite radio. I can't stand most of the new music that is being made now, so I have all the music I like on CD and on iTunes.

I rented a car for my east coast trip, which came equipped with satellite radio and I loved it. I can't stand most of the morning talk show hosts, so when commuting I'm usually listening to CDs, now that I am rebuilding my music collection.

However, Mr. Wonderful just gave me an iPod last week, complete with 1600 songs on it (yay!) so I'll be using that more often now.

As for radio, KFOG in San Francisco is my favorite station of all time. I listen to them online since I live out of their frequency range, but soon soon sooooon I will be back in the Bay (yay again!) and will be able to tune in better.

I tried satellite radio for a while, but once I realized that I could get much better stuff by putting on my tinfoil hat and sticking my head out the window, I canceled my account.
