I have the Buck Folding Hunter knife that I have been carrying for years. I use it for everything. I love the knife; they are really well made and I don't want to get another knife. My problem is that I would like to find a thumb stud that I could add on to it, so I can open it with one hand. It really is a pain to have to use both hands to open the thing when I am using it for a task sometimes. Anyone that knows this knife, knows it's not a one handed opener. Does anyone know a website where you can buy an aftermarket thumb stud to add to a folding knife? I saw a similar product years ago at a sporting goods store, but they don't seem to carry them anywhere anymore.

not that I know of, and if you were to add a thumbstud you would likly have to drill the blade to do it. Your in Arkansas, Go down There below Pine Bluff and learn to make one! Only place in America you have a school set up for knife making!

Yeah, I have read about that school. If only I was younger and didn't work so much. I think that would be a great skill to have. I could drill a hole in the blade and do it, but I'm afraid it would weaken the blade. The product I saw a few years ago fit on the blunt side of the blade, and was held on with a tension screw. I didn't really have a need for it. Sometimes I need to open the knife up to use it when I am holding something in the other hand. It's awkward to have to stop and use both hands to open it.

Yeah I probably should buy a new one. I am not one for change, so I tend to try and hang on to the same things for as long as I can. It's still a good knife, I may just throw it in my tackle box and use it solely for fishing. Fargle, that's an okay looking knife on the link you gave me. I don't really like the belt clips on the handles or the newer, lighter materials. That's one thing I like about the old Bucks. They have a heavy brass and wood handle, with a heavy, sturdy blade. But, it doesn't have all the amenities of the modern knife designs. Buck does actually make some pretty good knives that are more modern, and I am brand loyal to them. They still make all their stuff right here in America, and they guarantee their products.

And I wouldn't worry about the construction on what I've suggested. If YOU survive, the knife will, and isn't that all that really matters?

I have carried a buck folding blade in the past. I also used to carry it in a speed draw sheath, one hand, pull it out of the sheath on your belt, it's open.

Hell, I didn't think one would be hard to find, but it seems I was wrong. Bought one for a Schrade I had, a few years ago. No drilling needed, it was a screw on, worked like a charm.

Thanks Level, that's exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't find info on those anywhere. I bookmarked the site, and I am going to ask them about it. At least I know what they are called now. Thanks a lot.
