Termyn8or -> RE: FDA maintains their control (12/14/2007 7:14:28 AM)

Cholesterol is the new bogeyman, and will be played for all it is worth. The olman went in there and they wanted to give him lipitor, his cholesterol was a whoopping 220. As they talked, he interuppted "What is the number ?". Apparently the target is 200 ? Put a bit more kindly, he basically told them to shove it, errr, well make sure it does not get a sunburn. Now it's 150 and he did that with DIET ALONE. From what I've read he shouldn't go much lower. They got you thinking that your cholesterol should be zero, and that is simply not true. But then Americans are easy to whip up into a frenzy about damnear anything, except for the things that really matter. High cholesterol is only partly caused by what you eat, there is also the factor of what you don't eat and/or what your body can't absorb. In other words you think you can't have bacon and eggs, but that is not true. You just can't live on it exclusively. You need some veggies and other things. This way the cholesterol is not formed because any deposits in your body are formed by components of the food you eat that are not properly absorbed and metabolised by the body. In other words, get all the calcium your want, but if you don't get the companion minerals like magnesium, manganese, potassium, whatever else, you can still get osteoporosis, and if you overload on the calcium you can expect gallstones, kidney stones, bone spurs, all that good stuff. Cholesterol is basically fat that has not been metabolised. Why has it not been metabolised ? Because the metabolism is not normal. You don't even want to know what I think when I see a car pulling into the local McDonald's. In fact I notice that alot of really nice cars pull in there. Now there are two possible scenarios, one is that they really like the shit, and the other possibility is that they are spending so much on their car (status symbol) that all they can afford is McD's. At any rate, people do not know what to eat. They got it in their head that bread is the staff of life, nothing could be further from the truth. A hundred years ago when the land was not played out you could live on biscuits and gravy. But no more. My buddy Jim loved biscuits and gravy, but he is dead now. Had a fridge full of vitamins, supplements etc., but ate the usual diet with all the carbs. See carbs are the real bogeyman, but as long as they keep from telling us that it is the carbs and sugar are what's really killing us, they are making a killing. I would almost like to see my cholesterol rating. Up until yesterday I lived on salads. Well, they had meat, but no bread, no roll, no toasties in it, nothing of the sort. After that I allowed myself to carb out, and had some spinach lasagna, which was better than I thought it would be. So I got my meat without carbs, and then my carbs without meat. Unusual for me not to eat meat, but it shouldn't hurt me. While I agree about the FDA being bought and paid for, and not operating in our best interest, I also think it should be a non-issue. The human body, designed by nature can heal itself if given the proper tools. But what those tools are remains a mystery to most, and a subject of very subjective study by others. The FDA is indeed a part of the problem. But alot of Americans are lazy and stupid. Rather than spend $15 at the grocery store and go home and cook something good, they would rather drop a bit more at a fast food joint and have it now. Right now. They get high cholesterol and instead of a lasting change in their diet, giving up or cutting down on certain things and making sure to eat certain other things, they would rather be medicated, at the cost of their liver and kidney function at times. You got one life to live, let's get it over with. Now they say fasting is good for you, I have been doing that for years. Is this knuckle dragging high school dropout that far ahead of medical science ? For shame, for shame. So actually, I don't really go against the FDA on this particular subject. Those cholesterol reducing drugs can damage the liver, and can have other side effects. The first thing a doctor will do before putting you on them is do a blood test to confirm healthy liver function. What, you want idiots to just go out and in the space of about five years destroy their liver ? Then there will be another barrage of TV commercials by lawyers telling you that you must act now to get in on a class action lawsuit. This is a bunch of shit IMO. Perhaps it is hard for some to understand my slant on this. Understand this, I have not even taken an aspirin in over twenty years. I have gotten a few headaches (very rare) during that time, but I never reached for a bottle of pills to cure it. I came to a realization, partly many years ago. It has culminated in this opinion : the human body is of perfect design, usually. People survived without all these chemicals in the past. And the whomper of my opinion - if you can't survive you die. And to validate that, if I can't survive I die. I can't, nor do I, expect people to make the choices that I have made. I researched the subject for years and drew my own conclusions. So should Americans be able to just buy a lipitor type drug over the counter ? In this (rare) case, I would have to agree with the FDA. No. Can't believe I just said that, but I did. T
