nohalo -> IE settings to get to cmail (12/7/2007 12:43:25 PM)

I have been trying all different security and privacy settings in IE to get to cmail.  I've made it there a couple of times, but it was sporadic and I've been unsuccessful in finding the right combination to make it work.  I've also done a search of topics trying to find the answer, but have not found my issue addressed.

Here's what happens.  I log in, and all I get for options on the left side are:  Home, Message Boards, Browse Photos and BDSM Movies.  I've tried logging in from all the various places available to do so - still without success.  These are all the options I ever see (with the exception of a flukey situation a few days ago when it happened to work).  I tried to see where my settings were different, but didn't recognize anything.  My OS is XP Pro.

My fear is that I am missing all those emails from men and women who are dying to meet me, but think I am a total bitch for not responding!  [;)]

I've tried Support, I get the "create an account" screen - but I've already done that.

Anyone out there who migh have the answer?  I've reset all my browser security and privacy settings, but no luck so far.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Susan

Are you using the latest version of IE? Do you have all of your operating system's service packs and security updates installed? Are you using any third-party toolbars, ad blockers, and anti-phishing software inside your browser? If so, are you sure that an option or preference within each and every one of those is not responsible for your inability to see parts of the site? Do you see this happening with any other site that you frequent?

A bit more info is needed from you before anyone can offer useful advice.

Kumasan2 -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/7/2007 1:25:13 PM)

Have you tried using a different browser, such as Firefox?  I typically use Firefox without any problems.

Though I will admit to having had extensive email problems as well, in that I could receive emails but apparently the ones I sent were never actually received by their intended recipients.  But I believe this was a problem on tme CM side, as creating a new user seems to have cleared the problem.  I hope.

nohalo -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/7/2007 1:38:49 PM)

Thanks, sappatoti - Yes, I am using the most recent version (7 with the appropriate service packs).  I do have anti-phishing software, but have disabled it thinking it was the problem - no luck.  I've gone through everything with a fine toothed comb.  In addition, I've done some investigation regarding IE and perfomed the advanced reset, too.

Kumasan2 - I haven' tried Firefox.  Perhaps that is an option.  I will create a new username to see if it clears up with that.  Any new name suggestions?  I'm out...not very creative, eh?

Thanks again for your kind attempts to help

Susan

when is the last time you did a disk cleanup and reorg---insuring that everything on the disk cleanup is checked, and also did a delete all from the browser properties?

dont save pages whereever that checkoox is, clear your cache, shutdown and restart clean.

Arpig -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/7/2007 3:47:54 PM)

No problems here...using the default settings...so I suspect a 3rd party program rather then IE settings

Raechard -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/7/2007 3:48:07 PM)

I've never had a problem with cmail the Inbox is supposed to be empty all the time. I wish I had an Inbox like that at work.[:D]

*laugh*  I'm only creative to an extent, unfortunately, especially when it comes to names.  I went from Kumasan to Kumasan2 so there's creativity for ya!

But really, give Firefox a try.  It may clear up things.

CuriousLord -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/7/2007 4:13:46 PM)

Yeah, I'd agree with Arpig.  I'm using IE, and I have my IE security settings up pretty high.  It's working just fine for me.

What system (OS) are you on?  What version of IE is it?  Do you have any viruses/popups on that computer?

juliaoceania -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/7/2007 4:49:57 PM)

You might add a line about your issue to your profile, and perhaps there is another way for people to communicate with you...perhaps you could set up an email account off site and have people email that instead of your cm account email?

OrionTheWolf -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/7/2007 5:45:48 PM)

Sometimes what you describe can be a IE plug in that is causing the problem. To disable all plug ins, go to Tools at the top, internet options, programs tab, click the manage add-ons button. Here you can disable add ons one at a time, or click the advanced tab, and click the reset button.

Could be some EVIL SOFTWARE pretending to be an IE Plugin, too.

Try clearing your cookies on the personals side.

I'm going to second the "Try Firefox, and let us know how it worked out", suggestion.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/8/2007 2:39:45 AM)

Definitely. Most people do not understand what an activeX control is.

Thanks for all the great ideas and suggestions.  I was able to get in for a while this morning - then it all went to hell again!  I'll keep working on it.

Have a great day!

soultoshare -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/8/2007 8:41:46 AM)

I had a third party firewall program installed on my computer...that was my problem.....I could get to my ISP's home page, but to nothing else.  I dumped the firewall and haven't had any problems since.  I have XP, it has it's own firewall, I was told by a couple of computer mavens that I'm fine.....I'm still in the early 20th century when it comes to gadgets.....I don't even have a digital camera or cell phone.....but I'm a snob...only real film for me!

Hopefully, it won't cost you $100 bucks to find out what the problem is......good luck!

OrionTheWolf -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/8/2007 1:03:22 PM)

Go to tools, internet options, and select to delete all temp files and cookies. If it is still giving you a problem, try just turning off the firewall, but I have rarely seen this as a problem. I was having problems that were sporadic, and quirky with something else, and it was one of my add ons. This was occuring using Outlook Webmail through my business. All else fails, uninstall IE 7 and reinstall. You can try the firefox route, but some software integrates with IE and will not display properly with Firefox.

Yeah.

Those people really need to tell their software vendors to pull their head out of their asses and abandon IE as a target.

I've heard suggestions of the hit to Productivity caused by IE in the Billions.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: IE settings to get to cmail (12/8/2007 9:22:22 PM)

Lots of defects in many of these integrations, but Microsoft is allow the integration for free, and since most computers are deployed with it, the companies are going with it. This is of course not a developer making this decision.
