I did not know it was against the law to pocket something that had been dropped by a careless person on a subway... I thought that such things were free game, although ethically speaking I would and have returned things to people having dropped them...

What's next? Charging people for the crime of  leaving things that other people drop and not picking them up to return them?

That which in not forbidden is compulsory.

Before we resort to the guns to get our freedom back there is at least ONE last chance to regain them peacefully: voting for Ron Paul.

You keep reaching for that rainbow... Remember Nixon's "landslide" in '72? Remember Emma Goldman's words: "If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal"

The fiction that you *can* effect change at the ballot box, is what keeps people from reaching for the Ammo box.

A gun store in NY used to give out a bumper sticker:
"Make love, not war; be prepared for both".
The relevant version here is Vote not fight, but be prepared for both.
This country used to be free (except for the tragic flaw that ultimately led us on the path to that freedom's destruction).
Getting that freedom back via the ballot is not impossible, just unlikely.
Back in August I gave Ron Paul a 10% chance of winning the republican nomination and a 10% chance of winning the presidency without that nomination in a 3 way race vs Guliani and Clinton.
Those odds are still valid I think and are still better than pulling out the guns.

Damnit. That's the wrong clip. I meant to find the one where the incoming president is shown the Zapruter film, and then asked, "Any Questions?"

I say run warrants on the cops responsible, and let them get pissed off as the news runs a story about legal retribution, and common harassment.

well- shouldnt the dropper be considerred a litterbug?  and if a cell phone is dropped, I think one needs a special tag to dispose of that- so this would be unleashing a device of hazzardous waste upon a public space. or terrorism.

HA!

I give myself todays post of the day award!
