Maybe this has been covered before, but I'm too pissed to search right now.  What do you do when you find someone using your pictures on their profile?  We've been on this site for over a year, and those pictures of me have been on our profile for six or seven months.  Now I find that some skeezy UK pro-domme couple is using ALL of my pictures.  What the f*(k?  Are you afraid your cottage cheese ass will scare away business?    After all I know, and all I've seen about the net, I never thought it would me.  I feel so violated.  Besides reporting them, what else can I do?  We're very active in the Chicago scene and a couple of the frequent posters know me intimately.  Can they vouch for me to the mods?

The only thing you can do is make a report to the moderators on the other side and they will deal with it.
Does beg the question - how do pros get away with fake images?[&:]

My guess is that they ask for payment in advance and do the houdini thing.

Yea, we hate it when that happens too..... oh yea, no one ever steals old fuckers photos so it doesn't happen to us afterall...

Seriously you might want to watermark your photos so they won't be of value to fakes and wannabe's...

Other than the automated reporting system, where the only options are not-very-informative check boxes (and where we've already reported them as "scammers"), we don't see a way to report the stealing of our photos to the moderators on the otherside. Are we missing something? Is there any way to e-mail the moderators directly and give them the name of the profile that is using our photos?

I know we probably shouldn't care so much, as things like this are simply likely to happen online, but there is a surprising sense of violation in seeing your photos stolen and used on someone else's profile. There is also a strong corresponding desire to see things made right. Hopefully there is a mechanism in place to make sure that happens.

Watermarking them is a good idea.

SingleRarity -> RE: Stole my shit. (12/5/2007 8:07:32 AM)

Watermarking seems like our best option. I've already added one (if posting our profile name in big white letters over a new picture is really "watermarking" :P ) to a never-before-posted photo of her her doing ballet, but it has not been approved yet. I suppose I'll edit the original photos of her in the already stolen photos to include watermarks as well... perhaps using a real, more subtle watermark next time.

i've heard from a couple people who this has happened to, which is why i don't put up any pics. You never know who could use them and what their purpose is. But i do agree with everyone else, use a watermark on your pics. And i am so sorry this happened to you.

Write to support, make sure they are removed, and mark your pictures.  Be flattered you were attractive enough to have your pictures stolen and it doesnt sting quite as bad. I had a 65 yr old british submissive take one of mine.  If they are going to steal, at least dont make it painfully obvious.
If you are going to mark your pictures, do it very close to an important part of the shot, so it canot be edited out easily. I see a lot of people put their names on their photos way at the bottom, or the top and all you have to do is resize the pic a little and thats gone too.

I guess I just feel bad for someone who feels the need to steal a picture. They are shooting themselves in the foot after al, since when ad if they do find someone... the lie is going to be obvious. I just make sure they are taken down if I find someone with one of mine, but I prefer mine to look the way they do, and the theft isnt frequent enough to mar them with marks, for me at least.

As a follow up to this issue, we were able to send a message with the details of our problem to support via the link at the bottom of the main page of Collarme called "Support" (versus the "Help" link on the sidebar which doesn't give you the option to send a detailed message), and they responded by deleting the offending profile. Yay!

You could get a copyright on your pictures, so, if this happens again, you can have the profile's use of your pictures notarized, supenia (sp?) CM.com for the IP address (or, less evasively, seduce the profile owner into a meeting to find their identity), then sue them for violation of copyright.

Then again, I'm not a lawyer; just a guy who would probably be pretty pissed off, too.

stef -> RE: Stole my shit. (12/5/2007 1:45:43 PM)

You don't have to "get" a copyright, copyright is granted by default upon creation of the photograph.

if i saw someone had stolen my pics and was using them, id probably drop them a line asking if they were stoned or something

I wonder if that guy that had KoM's picture up ever responded to the emails or took it down.

I’m afraid this is not the case in practicality.  It is true that from the time you take the picture…if it is original and not done at the behest of an employer…the picture is yours and copyrighted. You cannot even give up the copyright unless in writing.

HOWEVER… it will cost you more to sue then you can recover under the law…UNLESS you register your copyright. Then your copyright is covered under Federal law. You can recover lawyer fees and damages with ease.

Go to Copyrightdefense.com for information on registering if you are interested.

Just for the record.....

I've seen your photo's and you're a really hot babe, but I can't imagine your shit being something that would interest me.      I'm all about your body, but it takes a pretty special individual to want to steal your SHIT.

Scat just isn't my kink.

stella41b -> RE: Stole my shit. (12/7/2007 1:54:22 AM)

I'm actually surprised, as judging from some profiles of certain pro-dommes in the UK from what I can see the trend among some of them appears to be to make oneself up to look like a glamorous transvestite, and from what I can see you look nothing like a transvestite. Please don't ask me why any Female Dominant would want to do herself up like a transvestite, I wouldn't know, maybe it brings in more paying subs or makes them look more dominant.

I just thought I'd point this out, it might help you feel better.

As has been noted, copyright is automatic.  And there'd be no point in suing somebody in a different country for such a minor offence.
