Ah, whatever! Y'all are just mad that my Bucks keep showing why they rule college football!

rule college football?
Well gee, if Missouri and West Virginia had done what Ohio State did last weekend (NOT PLAY) they would still be #1 and #2.
It sucks that teams are penalized for playing while others are rewarded for not playing.
One of the ESPN columnists put it the best when he said Ohio State didn't play and went from #5 to #3, the didn't play this week and went from #3 to #1, maybe if they stay home and don't play they will win the National Championship.

Don't yale and Harvard participate in playoffs when they qualify? The other colleges compete in playoffs, and have for years. Buckeyes!! They sure showed us last year.

I know that Division II has a playoff system...... I'm not sure if the Ivy league falls into that, though.

Another big game for an alleged championship, another letdown. And so, with a two-loss team celebrating as if they’ve actually won something, we’re left to ask again when the tradition slaves who run college football will finally do the right thing and give us a playoff.

Be honest. Unless you’re an LSU fan — and hats off to them for grinding Ohio State into the Superdome turf — there’s no way you think this college football season should be over. I don’t know which team you want to have a shot at LSU. It could be USC or Georgia or Missouri. But I know you want another game.

In a way, what happened on Monday night in New Orleans is the best thing that could happen to the absurd system that arbitrarily anoints a national champion in the NCAA’s flagship sport. After this stinker of a game, there can be no more specious arguments about how the system isn’t broken.

Simply put there isn't enough interconference play anymore to have anything like the BCS computer do rankings. The Big 10 plays itself and a couple of patsies and how is any objective ranking scheme supposed to identify that the Big 10 champ had no business being on the same field with the SEC or Pac 10 champs?

Let the conference champs play off through December with the final game in the Rose Bowl on January 1.

Hell, we might as well let the politicians vote for who plays. Wouldn't be much worse.

General ...

A playoff wouldn't have solved a thing this year. The final eight, in an eight-team bracket would have been:

1 Ohio State
8 Kansas

4 Oklahoma
5 Georgia

2 LSU
7 USC

3 Virginia Tech
6 Missouri

Notice how West Virginia isn't in? They are clearly one of the best teams in the country. Also, you know Hawaii would have to be in ... but who's spot do they get? Probably Missouri's.

So ... this bracket gets us Ohio State playing a creampuff in the first round ... and we know Ohio State knows how to handle creampuffs, since they pay in the Big-10, and a "two creampuff matchup" of Virginia Tech and Hawaii. Meanwhile, OU vs. UGA  and LSU vs. USC, have to play in the first round, while West Virginia and Missouri get to sit at home and watch teams they beat, play for a championship.

A playoff would only move the computer's decision from "who gets in to the game" ... to, "who get in the tournament, and who plays the cupcake in the first round"

I think there's an excellent chance Kansas would hammer Ohio St! And a playoff would have come far, far closer to solving things than what we have.

Why not just knock off a couple of the silly padding games they play at the beginning of the season and have a real playoff ...64 or 32 teams… Hell these are young kids they can take it... I'm really surprised this has not happened...Imagine the money that could be made.

I guess no organization  has the  power or will  to get things started.

It's because the powerful organizations have been actively working AGAINST a playoff.  The major conferences don't want a system in which an outside team could win everything.  The BCS guarantees each major conference at least one large payday, and that's how they like it.

We've gone over this.
