Hillary Clinton was skewered as overly scripted recently after aides quietly persuaded an Iowa college student to lob an easy question on global warming at the Democratic hopeful, who promptly called on the young woman.

But Florino insisted to reporters that he was nobody's stooge - just the volunteer co-chairman of Giuliani's town committee in Windham, N.H.

"This isn't one of those Hillary events - no," Florino told the Daily News. "Basically, I love politics, and he sees me as a familiar face."

Added campaign spokeswoman Maria Comella: "He's an eager volunteer who is very engaged. And as you know, the mayor is willing to answer any question, anytime."

You state as the title "Rudy gets caught using audience plant". The opening line of the article is "Richard Florino may not be a plant for Rudy Giuliani, but he's certainly got roots in the Republican's presidential campaign."

Whether Rudy did it, or just accepted it, it is in bad form and smacks of staging. I don't like either him or Ms. Rodham.

I know you play the middle road guy,all even handed, fair minded and all.

But you`re not that naive.

It is not a matter of being naive, but unless I am doing battle/combat/competition, I do not try guess what the other person is thinking. Either way, it is bad form and staging.

Please do not assign traits to me, that I have not claimed myself. I am an independent conservative, I am usually not fair, I am very biased, and if even handed means you get a solid, equal smack when you piss me off, then I would be that.

The audience plant has been around in politics for a very long time. Goebbels used it often in early Nazi rallies, but he certainly did not invent it. There are mentions of such crowd plants in political reportage for as long as there have been reporters. It's just a tool used to bring up an issue that someone wants to be sure to have a chance to speak about. I am surprised how this seems to be such an issue. Are we really that politically naive as a nation?
