Rodney King should have been killed when the cops had their chance so long ago.

That statement just made a huge withdrawal from that "karmic bank".

Perhaps in previous lives she has made a lot of deposits?.. by looking at her profile it does not seem likely... so maybe being a lesser lifeform will work out better next time around.

Yeah I was just ignoring that statement, however, as someone rather unwisely seems to connect this with my statements, I don't ever wish for ANYONE to die or get shot.

I don't doubt that they may have some harsh feelings for the guy, but it's unlikely any cop that isn't going to lie already would lie because it's Rodney King.  Given what was disclosed about the man in the previous incident and the fact that he's had a huge chunk of money fall in his lap, I don't doubt he was intoxicated.

It is not against the law to be drunk and shot in your own home... I think most of us would be hard to deal with under the circumstances...Are you going to be "easy" to deal with if you are wounded and drinking? I just find it humorous how the cop had to state that, if it had been anyone else I doubt he would have

I didn't say it was against the law.  I pointed out your assumption they were lying was a bit unfounded given the information we know about him.  That's all.

I make assumptions all day every day, that is what human beings do in order to survive.. we see patterns and we make decisions about things based on the patterns that we see. I could be wrong, but I could be right.

Edited to add, I have stated why I thought what I thought.,.. and it is not without any foundation

seeksfemslave -> RE: Rodney King shot (11/30/2007 5:49:14 PM)

First he wasnt shot in his own home, according to the link provided in the OP.
My guess is that he was involved in an incident and called the police expecting them to deal with the people who shot him.It didnt work out that way.

Clearly the man has, shall we say, lived on the edge but he certainly didnt deserve the treatment he got in the incident that brought him to world wide attention.

I absolutely agree with that assessment... I was so sickened by that tape. The LAPD is known for their racism and brutality.

I agree also.  As you hopefully know already julia, I respect your opinions and can agree to disagree with you.

The police beat him for being uncooperative when he wouldnt stand up and then beat him for his aggression when he did move or try to stand up.

Tho' I suppose to see things from the LAPD's side if you are constantly confronted by the rubbish element it must ultimately have an effect

MsJO, you are but a pale shadow of your former self. I'm a worried man.lol

juliaoceania -> RE: Rodney King shot (11/30/2007 6:00:03 PM)

You can disagree with me, but I rarely have "no foundation" for the thoughts that go through my head.

I would not try that cop in a court of law based upon my suspicions... but I have no trust in the LAPD or what they say is all. My Daddy has lived in that area his entire life, and has related things to me also.... he abhors racism. When I am down there with him and we go through certain areas he points out to me how few minorities there are around because the police harass them.

I respect your opinions also, and I enjoy reading your posts Laurell

GoddessMine -> RE: Rodney King shot (11/30/2007 6:02:17 PM)

Ooh let's share horror stories from the LAPD. I was pulled over on the 60 once, and the guy was a complete asshole on the mic. I've never been pulled over before, so I was nervous. He was all "Ugh, COME ON - GET OFF TO THE RAMP. HELLLOOOOO. NO NO NO NOT TO YOUR RIGHT, UGH!".
Asian driver stereotype, much?
Wait....

Dick.

Love,
GM

No, not all cops are corrupt, but lets put it this way, I do not have any faith in the Los Angeles PD or what they would say about a man that showed how brutal the LAPD can be...

I had a friend that lived in LA with biracial kids, and the way her kids were targetted as teens because of the area she lived in made her move away..

Julia,

The Rodney King tape showed how brutal a group of people could be.

Are you saying this woman's biracial kids were forced out of their neighborhood because they were targeted by the LAPD? Please clarify cause Im not sure what you are saying. Thanks, H

juliaoceania -> RE: Rodney King shot (11/30/2007 6:08:00 PM)

I am saying that on several occasions when she took her son and her daughter places... like parks, they harassed her son. On the last occasion they arrested both of her kids.. son was 18, daughter 16 because her son would not submit to a search and her daughter went ballistic when they put cuffs on her son. She decided to get them out of LA... they almost arrested her too. They were in a public park

justheather -> RE: Rodney King shot (11/30/2007 6:15:01 PM)

That answers my question, Julia. I just didnt know if you were saying that the police harassed them or if other teenagers harassed them or what. Thank you for the clarification.

I looked at your profile, how is it working for you being a racist Nazi in Seattle? I can imagine it would be hard making friends[;)]

Though I disagree with MistressPav here, I know she can't be racist - she's pretty fond of me :)

Mostly, I agree with Arpig, though:

So what's up with calling  MP a racist Nazi?

Let's take a look at Kings life? The man is a Drug User and a Wife Beater. No one cares about his race. Atleast I don't give a damn. When I see Rodney King, I see scum who became rich for evading police and resisting arrest. To avoid being beaten, the guy just had to stay on the ground. Instead, doped up PCP crack head decided to keep getting back up after being told to stay down over and over and over again.

If and when you encounter someone on PCP, you'll understand the real reason why the cops did what they did to King in 1991. It wasn't out of racist anger, but rather survial instinct. They would have done the exact same thing to a white person on PCP. When dealing with a violent and dilusional man who is five times stronger than normal and can't feel pain, extreme force is needed to keep yourself from getting killed.

Yes, you know wishing people dead makes you so much superior to them (not)

Edited to add, where is the proof he was on PCP? Or are you just regurgitating those cops defense?

And another thing, did those cops know he was a wife beater when they almost beat him to death?

So basically you get pulled over, and if you have a record that gives the cops the right to beat you until you are maimed and permanently disabled.. thanks for registering your opinon

Very surprised. I'd also ask for an independent audit.

Okay, so how would you handle the situation? You have to chase the driver, seen lives endangered due to the car chase, and then the driver refuses to get out of the car. Once he's out, he refuses to cooperate. So you finally get him out of the car. You say "Get and stay on the ground!" He gets up. You repeat your command. He still decides to get up. Would you just let him walk away as if nothing happened? What would you do to keep him from fleeing?

If King would have just stayed down, he never would have been hit with a night stick. Ofcourse, pulling over and not resisting arrest in the first place would have made the whole event a regular day where a drug dealer/user gets busted.

Before saying the cops went bezerk, let's remember that they kept there cool enough not to kill King. They could have done much worse.  They never shot, kicked, tased, peper sprayed, sat on, run over, not head locked King. Despite all the damage King did and lives he put at stake, the cops only gave King a blow for every attempt he made to get up after being told to stay down. The cops even had the ambulance out for medical treatment. If the cops really had it out for King, he would have been killed.

If you get pulled over, have a record, decide to peel out, lead a high speed chase, refuse to get out of the car, fight police, and refuse to do as you're told, then I will answer YES to your queston. The cops should have every right to beat the living shit out of you untill you start cooperating.
