Well "we" (Canadians) are getting par or better for our Canuck Bucks, south of the border.
Because of the US withdrawl from the NATO mission in Afghanistan, it is indeed a quagmire but not of the same nature as the USSR invasion. If the USA had stuck with the NATO mission and maintained a sizable presence there they sould have (probably) accomplished the exit of Saddam et al, with a lot less bloodshed - and for a few trillion dollars less.

What makes you think we can do it with either af or iraq when we cant ever get it done betweel palestine and israel?
As I have shown in that clip several times they see us as an iveader that is trying to occupy their land and steal their oil,and there is absolutely nothing we can do short of getting out that will satisfy them.
Until then they will keep coming until every one of them are dead.
