quote:
ORIGINAL: cyberdude611 Hitler was elected too.... When you state that "Hitler was elected too" you clearly know little of Hitlers rise to power. If you were to actually read a little of German history you might come to understand how ill informed that statement is. It is true on the whole but not even in the same zip code with the whole truth. The guy is trying to pass right now a referendum that will give government control of the media, end term limits so he can be president for life, and move the country towards socialism. Political dissidents and journalists are frequently jailed. And he has control over the legislature and has stacked the Supreme Court. It is difficult to tell if you are talking about Chavez or Bush here. The one and only reason you like the man is because he hates Bush and wont tow the US line. That is not a fair characterization of my position at all. I am simply pointing out that he is the legally elected president of a sovereign nation. A sovereign nation that the U.S. has tried to overthrow. How would you react to a foreign nation trying to overthrow a legally elected president of the U.S,? Would you not hate someone who tried to kill you? Why should Venezuela or any other country have to tow the U.S. line? The world is growing tired of his antics. Peru hates him. Columbia now hates him. Brazil doesnt like him. We hate him. The king of Spain told Chavez to "shut up." The Saudis basically threw him under the bus at the OPEC meeting. The only friends Chavez can make is with Fidel Castro, Kim Jong Ill, and Amadinejad. This is nothing but pure hyperbole. There are some 170 nations in the world. You have listed four. Of those four there is a disagreement between Chavez and Uribe of Columbia concerning the "peace talks" with FARQ. Brazil is hardly his enemy and the King of Spain speaks only for himself and not for the country of Spain.
