People who refuse to get help because of an addiction are not at a point in their lives where they can offer anyone enaything of value. They are incapable of giving or making anything else the focus of their attention. Trying to have a relationship with someone like that is akin to banging your head against the wall. They become untrustworthy, unreliable, volatile, hostile, and totally self absorbed. They will latch onto anyone who will enable their adictions. How can you trust someone who has lost judgement? How can you trust someone who cannot control themselves? Get involved - absolutely, positively not. There is no amount of kindness, help, support out there for them that you can give that will be enough. They will stop when their life is so out of control they hit bottom and have no where else to turn. Untill then, stay clear unless you want so much misery and heartache your own life starts to unravel.
