Status: offline 		Without having to go into a long explanation, I turn to you Collarme for help.

To those of you who know what a Tulpa is and are knowledgeable on the subject...there is a question I would like to ask.

If i get no responses (as I assume I won't), then I will post a new thread explaining what a Tulpa is and then adressing my question again.

However! I will do neither until I digress on this current thread.

So please! I beg you! If you know about Tulpa's, please respond!

(This thread will recieve 6 bumps from me before I give up and start anew)

All that is to be said is that it is not a good idea to embark on such a creation without clear knowledge of your self, a clear understanding of what it is that is to be accomplished, sufficient experience or access to it and above all the right motivations.

For us dumbarses, here is the definition:

The word Tulpa is from the Tibetan language and refers to any entity that attains reality solely by the act of imagination. The entity is created entirely within the confines of ones own mind, not drawn out, written down or even verbally described.

If its creator wishes, this "Tulpa Creation" may become physical reality through intense concentration and visualization. However, care must be taken to only bring to reality what is beneficial to the world, lest it's destruction becomes more problematic than its creation.

There ya go, saved you bothering to make another thread.

Oh believe me, I'm very knowledgeable. My motivations are clear, as well are my understandings. I know the dangers, and the temporary existence it will have in my life before things may possibly go awry.

However my "question" of the moment...is...instead of making a human thought form, if I made an item instead...would that be any less dangerous? I mean...my first thought was to create a ring the bestowed good fortune to those who were nice to me. You know, nothing that I would gain from, and yet nothing that would harm someone else. However, although the ring would lack human emotions...I still fear the possibility of regardless danger.

Status: offline 		I'd suggest that an inanimate object, created in the imagination and imbued with some sort of purpose or to channel some kind of intent, would be better called a charm than a tulpa.

If you truly knew the dangers, you would not be asking the question.  Therefore, you do not know the dangers, you don't know how to control it, you don't know what it can do once it is out.  You don't even know what it would take to try to bring it back. 

Just freaking don't go there.

If you're hell bent on playing with your brain, there are other games you can play.

If they don't exist then trying to create one is useless.

If they do exist, in the way generally defined, then creating one is not something you really want to do.

The CW series Super Natural had an episode on this. Kind of spooky.

I've created people, things, and stuff from my imagination. Unfortantly, no one else could see them. Not enough people belive what I belive for it to become reality.

Kind of sucks.

But like my Great Grandmother told me. "Life is like a quilt. You take everything piece by piece and sew it all together." She also said "When all you have are scraps, make a quilt."

So I do belive that you can take a whole lot of nothing and make something.

In the sense that one gun aimed at you is less dangerous than two, a talisman or charm can be less dangerous.

Unfortunately I'd have to say that there are a couple of issues associated with the project you have in mind with the ring. The lesser issue is that of how the ring could be charmed in such a way as to have effects on a variable number of people of random identity. The major issue regards "being nice to you" and bestowing "good fortune" on others. In my opinion, these could be interpreted so widely as to be meaningless as intent or effect.

What concerns me specifically about this project is that it doesnt really do anything more than what occurs naturally anyway. Intepreting "being nice to you" as basically treating you with respect and concern, then the natural karmic consequences, for others of such behaviour in simple terms is "good fortune" in any case.

Magic can be a useful and effective thing to have available in life, but it has to be a last resort in important matters.
